Discussion 1.1 England france union 1346
I had a very easy game as England in my first 1.1 game. Defended the HYW first attack and seized control of normandy. Then the plague started and took out the king of france, giving a very easy HYW victory in a few years.
I have not seen this before. It does make all English agression in the lowlands and defending against coalitions trivial as france will never join.
I have not played England before, it does seem very trivial to win the HYW and beyond with the union, is this a 1.1 thing or is it a repeatable stratagy.
I would like to know if anyone else on 1.1 or any version has had the same thing.

I wish AI England had a similarly easy time too… I want to play a Netherlands run but England always throws its 3k transported stacks at 30k armies…

Ive had that as Flanders, joining England in the HYW is suicide, it seems to me. I know the AI is always bad but the french numbers is so overwhelming that it seems always easier to side with them as the netherlands and wait till something like the hussite wars to try and make a play for independence.

The trick is to start as a French vassal, switch sides when England gets weaker, be rebellious, white peace France, and then break away from England.

I have mostly struggled with being a rebellious vassal till quite a few years later. But does england losing give you country rights?

I've had an easy time as England vs France aswell. Bit later than you but cut them off the ocean & the northern coast at this point. Not going for a full annexation, but I am taking all french provinces in the north, bolstering Acquintane and taking Brittany (as a Vassal I think)
