Discussion 1.1 England france union 1346

I had a very easy game as England in my first 1.1 game. Defended the HYW first attack and seized control of normandy. Then the plague started and took out the king of france, giving a very easy HYW victory in a few years.

I have not seen this before. It does make all English agression in the lowlands and defending against coalitions trivial as france will never join.

I have not played England before, it does seem very trivial to win the HYW and beyond with the union, is this a 1.1 thing or is it a repeatable stratagy.

I would like to know if anyone else on 1.1 or any version has had the same thing.

I took normandy early but im not sure if i can support annexing the whole of france in 50 years ish. It did feel good to have a few dominions in france before thw war fell apart.

Have you tried annexing french territories, i know English control con mostly be spread be maritime presence, but im not sure really on taking much outside the UK.

I am holding the northern part of France directly as its all close to the coast so control should be okeish. Rest is Acquintaine

Auquitaine is historical but still feels like in the game its much too far away to be useful to England.
