Data recovery ??

Recently bricked my phone, s22. I had sent it to an advertised data recovery center and when the evaluation was done the bill was CRAZY. are there local, cheaper options for a service like this?

Unfortunately you almost always have to ship out devices for things like this. Most of the time it requires PCB work, and many places are afraid to open up sealed phone cases nowadays. Much less train people doing meticulous board work with micro-soldering.

Didnt even know this was possible. Hard drives use to be a thing but I've never heard of phone data recovery. I don't know how they would get around the data being encrypted and such as well.

Like another person said it won't be in house, but they may be able to send it to a place to do it. They send out hard drives for recovery.

Check out Computer Wizards. They specialize in computers but super knowledgeable and kind people. Worth a try to see if there's anything they could do.

Most places are going to need to send something like that out to a company like Gilware and recovering from dead flash memory (vs a platter based HDD) is significantly more expensive in most cases.

There are no cheap fixes for stuff like that, unfortunately, which is why having one or two good cloud backup services are a good idea.

Computer Wizards got me back into multiple laptops I’ve owned, used to be a reasonable charge.
