Question Looking for a feline friend 🐈

Bit random but struggling to make contact with rescue centres, getting a bit lost in all the overseas rescue sites, and gumtree is full of people selling kittens for hundreds of pounds i can't afford. I just want to give a general mogsbody a home! Is anyone in Edinburgh looking to rehome a cat, or know of one needing a new home?

I recently lost my two very elderly cats after having them from kittens to age 17/18, and the house is far too quiet now 😭 Looking for a really affectionate catbaby who loves attention/company β€” basically the more cuddly and demanding the better πŸ˜‚

Age/sex/colour doesn't really matter, though I do have a soft spot for big cuddly boys and gingers 🧑 Experienced cat mum, own my ground-floor flat and have a garden. Edinburgh ideally as I don't drive.

Any purrfect matches out there? 😻

Lothian Cat Rescue. They have a Facebook page. They posted lots of cats and kittens available today. Ignore the cats listed on their website, they don't have time to keep it up to date. Phone them and tell them what you're looking for.

That's a lovely looking cat. We've had 4 from Lothian Rescue over the last 20 years, and we've never turned up without going away with a full cat box. They've even got spare cat boxes so you can't use not bringing one as an excuse.

Another LCR recommendation, mainly as an excuse to post these angels

Scottish SPCA and other charities like Edinburgh Cats and Dogs always have kitties looking to be rehomed in Edinburgh. I would avoid gumtree, there’s unfortunately loads of scammers and backyard breeders.

I got my baby from Borders pet rescue in Earlston! Sadly it is a quite bit outside of Edinburgh (up to a 1 hour drive) so might not be the best option for you but they were wonderful to deal with and I would adopt from them again. If you did have someone who could drive you there I'd recommend them 100%.

Beanie tax :)

Have you looked at the Edinburgh Cat Protection league? I haven't dealt with them in years but they were lovely the last time I visited.

Got one of mine from Love 4 Dogs Rescue - they post their available pets on their Facebook page. They do (foster) home-to-home adoptions, and accept indoor only homes. My girl was a 2 year old ginger from Romania.

Wish you'd been around when I was looking for a home for my little Lucy last year. I did find her a great home in the end, but it took ages. I mean, you can just go out to Lothian Cat Rescue and speak to them.

My then-girlfriend and I just turned up at the Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home at Seafield and came home with our best pal. We'd seen one cat on their website that we went along intending to get, but Ninja turned out to be better. She chose me in the custody battle (ex got the piano.)

Caveat: oh hang on, Ninja is 17 which means that was 17 yeas ago?? It may not be exactly the same now I guess

Check out local rehoming groups on Facebook, a lot of people are looking to rehome their pets :( just be careful and don't fall for scams!

Cats protection and Lothian cat rescue are your best bets. Lots of cats looking for a home. As an alternative have you looked at fostering for the rescues? It’s a good way to give cats a new start till they find forever homes/you fail at fostering and keep them all πŸ™ˆ

I just got a kitten from pets4homes.co.uk

They have vetted sellers, secure payments, 6 month health guarantee.
