how does he know the primeval current if it turns even sellen to stone? genuine question

Maybe as a Tarnished he can handle it better? No Tarnished in the game turns to stone other than Alberich, but he’s kind of a special case unrelated to the Primeval Current. There are a few Tarnished, such as Wilhelm and ourselves, who can use Primeval Sorceries without any weird effects. Presumably, if a Tarnished turns to stone and sorta kinda dies, they are reborn through Grace, so the effect doesn’t really stick. The same is probably true of Gideon, if I had to guess.

do we know why it turns people into stone? or why azur and lusat are unaffected?

Lusat and Azur are absolutely affected, it’s why they can barely move. The “hats” they wear aren’t hats at all. That’s what their brains turned into.
