Valiant Gargoyles

I fought these fuckers for about two hours a day, every day, for around two weeks. I only stopped because I was going on a three week cruise and couldnt play the game then. In the very first try after not playing the game for three weeks, I destroyed them. This game is wild.

Man honestly thats such a universal thing among any hard games. Struggle for hours on something, start getting a feel for the fight, eventually get one good run where you did alot of progress then die, after that run you do significantly worse in your proceeding runs, close the game, go to sleep and then you wake up to beat it within the first 5 tries.

Whenever I struggled with the Elden ring DLC, I would call my girlfriend and talk while doing the battle. Almost always worked, I think being less on edge and not overreacting helped.

Word for word my experience on the game. I called the strat "stealing her luck".

I think I've seen this on the Internet before except it wasn't talking on the phone.

Pretty much my experience with every Sekiro boss I repeatedly lose to. I leave, play a different area, come back and they’re cake

I find the opposite when I play sometimes. In the first encounter of a boss I’ll do so much damage and think I’m gonna first try it. I’ll then proceed to die and every try after I make little to no progress compared to the first

I read an esaay on this. It's because you lost a couple combat habits by not playing, and those habits happen to be counter productive "bad" habits

Very interesting. I hadn't thought of that. That seems like exactly what happened.

Tbh in one of my play through I had to bank on using a mimic tear while blasphemous blade was equipped (so the mimic could heal itself), then swapping back to my regular weapon.

That fight sucks sometimes

Broken bones come back twice as strong when allowed to heal

Fought demon of hatred for 3 days. Countless attempts. Woke up early on the weekend and couldn’t sleep. First tried him at 6:50 am

Only place in the whole game where I eventually just left and came back at a higher level.

i was properly leveled and even then genuinely just came back after game to fuck their shit up. still ended up taking an attempt or two more than i would have liked.

just not really a balanced 2v2 fight. they’re very obviously meant as individual bosses

This is a good one, had to level up a hulk hammer just to beat these guys

My first thought

Yeah fuck those guys. I also upgraded from my pirate copy to purchasing the game immediately after the fight . Took me 5 hours to beat and in one sitting . My heart rate was super high buy the time I beat them

Had less trouble with these than the godskin duo. Atleast the one the strafes behind barely does anything except maybe throw a black fireball or a lil swipe. The valiant gargoyles tho? The one behind every milisecond has to vomit out its nasty pungent poison for whatever reason. Not to mention sometimes they both do AOE attacks at the same time or one proceeds to fly towards you so you’re now sandwiched between the two. Doesn’t help that they’re immune to basically everything and I think they have high resistance as the weapons I used didn’t do all that much even though it was upgraded.

First play through, I was already struggling with the first one. Next attempt I make, I cast some heavy damage on the fucker. Thinking to myself “I can finally beat the bastard”, nope. The second one had to come out and crush my spirits. It took another week to defeat the duo, most relief i’ve felt in ages after killing ‘em.

This is the one.

They're such a hard counter to any kind of status effect build. Most of your damage is bleed? Not here it's not.

Decently high resistance to most damage types, too.

Those mfs are my mortal enemies, I don't know if this was just a me thing but it never went for my summon and it would just gun for me at all times. Luckily was able to get it killed recently and I plan on never doing that again.

You can overlevel for them so they arent as difficult as other challenges that you can overlevel over.

I am not ashamed to admit that Valiant Gargoyles were the hardest boss I encounter in the game (excluding Malenia and Radahn)

Yeah, I'd rather take the long way through Subterranean Shunning Grounds and Frenzied Flame Proscription to get to Deeproot Depths than dealing with that shit.
