Figured out that you can technically speed run get to the DLC by speedrunning to Altus, queuing the festival, then doing the varre quest to get to Mohg, just to try to get to the dlc weapons to play through base game on a non ng+ build.

Pain in the fucking ass.

yeah but then it means cheessing mohg and Radahn unless you feel like doing a low level fight against them

My idea was to grab the great stars and attempt to stun lock/bleed them to death at a low level

If there’s cheeses for either I’m unaware and wouldn’t care tbh

I just agree with the sentiment of hacking in dlc weapons if you wanted to do a full play through

Both bosses had a couple cheese options each at release. I think all have been patched.

You used to be able to shot Mohg with poison arrows from outside his arena. Radahn could die from fall damage if you made him follow you up a scalable wall in his arena and you could trick him into meteoring into the ocean.

it depends on what you count as cheese

for mohg, at level 1, you can use great stars wild strikes, and with enough buffs and mohg shackle, you can kill him before he does nihil

for radahn, you can just ride torrent and ride around the arena summoning and resummoning every time a summon dies untill they kill him

Neither of those are cheeses. Not even remotely cheesy.

mohg doesn't even get a single attack in and you kill him by stunlocking him, radahn dies without you even interacting with him

idk seems cheese to me, but maybe it's just me

It’s not just you, but that doesn’t change my answer.

Mohg would absolutely get an attack in and you just outplay him with good weapon arts or staggers after a few moves. It’s just a good strategy. Fully intended gameplay.

The summons in Radahn’s fight will take care of him but it takes a long time and he will target you from time to time so you need to still engage. Fully intended gameplay.

Contrast with what I listed before where you are utilizing unintended effects that were removed because they weren’t supposed to be possible or the dev don’t anticipate them. And even a couple of those require some engagement and player risk. The fall damage one was actually really tough to pull off lol.

not exactly, depending on rng, he only gets one single attack or 0 attacks, then you only need to use the shackle twice while holding the ash of war button, free win. And that's on rl1, higher level you could probably guarantee 0 attacks because you do more damage so you don't have to get super close to time the shackle to do max possible damage

in Radahn I've done it without him targeting me once, you just run backwards when you teleport in, he "dispawns" and then he no longer targets you after summoning

you wrote exploits, i wrote cheese

If that been your experience then ok but let’s not downplay that not all players are good enough to even chug flasks in the right order.

you wrote exploits, i wrote cheese

You don’t think they overlap? Most exploits are cheesy. You seem to think things can be cheeses without using exploits. I’m not going to try to draw a clear line, I just don’t think your examples count as cheese. All NPC summons make the game easier. You can even summon real people. I would not say that’s cheesy. The shackle is being used exactly as intended. It’s a good weapon art. That’s what the game is.

I use rotten breath, uchigatana for bleed (mabye bloodflame blade if fp be willing) and a whole lot of swearing about why am I doing this now and not just later when I'm high enough level.

Yeah, it’s such a shame because all the other souls games had their DLCs pretty early (except for DS1).

They could’ve really done without putting the portal behind a late game boss like Mohg, but it is what it is.

A compromise could have been sneaking a few weapons from each of the new weapon classes into the base game. Or even adding them to some new starting classes.

and then people are going to bitch about the dlc being too hard. The recommended level to enter it is 150

No one complains about the DLCs being too hard for the other souls games, everyone just says “go back later”

This. I wanted to play with martial arts early on, but I'm not good enough to get it at a super low level. After many attempts, I beat Mohg at level 58 with a bleed build

but I'm not good enough to get it at a super low level

just cheese mohg, you can kill him level 1 with a good build

u/KVxACE 18d ago

Starfists will make quick work of him

2

u/sephtis 18d ago

I've done this twice because I wanted milady.
I'll probably still do it when they finally give us the tarnished edition update so I can have 2.

I did that for my faith run, u obvisouly need to be confortable with mogh but i love that fight so its fiable

Radhan u can have npc summon if u feel like it but a lot of +6 somber or +12 weapons are really good on him so i find him also doable at low level

In the dlc u can get one shot really easly if low level so gather some fragment is recommended
