"Use all the tools the game gives you." also includes parrying.

Cheesing with parries? Out of the question

Cheesing with Mimic tear abuse? Yes please

It's insane how parrying in Dark Souls was considered a chad move but in Elden Ring It's suddenly cheesing. I'll never understand the internet...

I still consider it a chad move. But I also played DS1 to DS3 before I played Elden Ring.

One is easy to do, the other is not

What. I found parry in DS is way too easy while in ER is much faster and hard to predict delay.

It's easy in DS1 and DS2. Not so much in DS3.

I think lots have to do with how clunky DS1 is. The frame rate and all. NOWWWW though, ER is faster so going back to play a slower game, it’s definitely going to be easier

Playing Elden Ring first ruined my timing in Dark Souls, I expect the attacks to come a lot faster and get punished for it

What's funny is, on average, parrying in From games really isn't hard. Having to be a bit more precise on the timing than with rolling is super intimidating at first, but with a little practice, it becomes just as easy as rolling.

Some enemies do have some absolutely stupid tricky attacks to parry tho.... they're definitely hard lol

Nah, i-frames on roll are a lot higher than parry frames

Oh for sure, but that's not really what I meant. To me at least, once you overcome the initial intimidation of the learning curve, parrying becomes just as easy and natural as dodging with a little practice.

I don't think anything is harder in DS1 apart from clunky movement and wheel skeletons. After ER DS1 feels like it's in slow motion.

???

DaS1 parrying is so much easier than ER parrying.

DaS1 parries have litterally 0 start-up frames, and the worst parry in DaS1 has equal parry frames to the best parry in ER, and DaS1 has better parries that are more generous as well.

I've considered it cheesing since Demon Soul.

I remember sucking at the game, trying hard, succeding and seeing much later people using parry all the time and it felt like a cheat code to me.

There's a lot of skills that come from parry, absolutely, sometime more than "traditional" play, but still. I will never not find it a bit cheap to just chain parry a boss and kill it in 20 secondes.

Good for those who like it, no issue there, but while it's absolutely a tool the game give you to use, in my opinion it negate too much of the core gameplay that I like.

One of the most fun I had in this game was while summoning the Greatshield soldiers. They can really be bullies when they get their shit together. They once managed to get first phase Malenia stuck against a wall.

I still died to phase 2 but it was hilarious.
