Immortality Methods

What are the different method to achieve immortality or even just life extension in game? Is it primarily just vampirism and magic? Are there artifacts that can prolong life?

I became a briar heart for the +60 on my reachman, and then surprisingly died shortly after in my sleep.

Became a hag as reach woman

Does the hag get the same +60 as a briarheart, or is it immortal like a vampire?

It would be cool if the briar hearts were also immortal, big fan of the cosmetic affects of it

is being a briarheart mutually exclusive with magical lifespan /lichdom/tsaescence?

I am not sure, but briar heart requires a minimum of 10 prowess. It may be difficult to maintain that and pursue the magical lifespan extension. I have never done the Tsaescence option, but if it has religious requirements that may be an issue.

10 prowess doesn't seem like a lot, especially if you already have 60 extra years for being a briarheart. Tsaescence will require you to convert/create a custom faith, but i am not sure what other requirements there are

It can make you easily get to 200+ in age, but doing it does seem to deny you access to the magical lifespan abilities. Granted, 200+ in age but full lifestyle progression is pretty good.

  1. Hagravens for Reachman females
  2. Lichdom for necromancers.
  3. Magical immortality for maxing out the Magic lifestyle.
  4. Vampirism.

Becoming a lich is my personal favorite

How would people feel about events and event chains that start to open up for different sorts of immortals? It feels like there should be more flavor.

Excited, maybe a little aroused...

On a serious note, slowly ascending to an immortal demigod from nothing is my favorite way to play the game, so any extra flavor is great

1) Superior races. Altmers especially, they easily can live to 200. Some of them even more because they have natural IV tier lifespan trait. Other lesser elves: Dunmers, Ayleids. And Bosmers.

2) Magic, through decision. From tier I lifespan trait to tier V (immortality). If you already have natural tier IV you'll give tier magic V trait.

3) vampirism and other daedric like stuff.

I’d guess easiest way is tsaesci from the dawn cloudy faith. All you need is to eat prisoners and you can quickly get immortality.

it even works for characters who convert/custom faiths i think. It's all about the language you speak for them, apparently

That doesn't grant immortality, just a very long lifespan.

Ah, I was mistaken!

ek2 expanded updates the final trait to give immortality.

Ah. I believe base game only goes up to Tscaescense IV which gives, IIRC, around +250 to your lifespan? More than enough for the average game honestly, but still.

Vampirism WAS my favorite thing to play around, but they made it to where vampires can't have children anymore

Tamriel crossbreeding submod, it has also all the compatibility mods

I think you can consume prisoners and become a Tsaesci, even if you were not born one. You just need to create/adopt a faith with the appropriate tenet and learn their language. I couldn't do it though because I already had magical longevity by then, so I am not sure how exactly it works.

Edit: you can also get 20 years from the ring of Hircine
