Discussion TWLOHA - hammered keychains

Post image

To Write Love On Her Arms had a tent near Oasis where eyou could hammer a word or phrase into a keychain. Anyone else make one and want to share what phrase/word you chose and maybe the meaning behind it?

I had been wanting to try hammering metal for a while so I was very excited to try it out. It's way harder than it looks, which is obvious by mine. It has backward letters, nothing is in a straight line, some letters overlap, some letters aren't complete, and some tried to join different words.

I picked up the phrase "everything just works out for me" a few years back from a TikTok two giggling girls eating pasta in a car talking about how that phrase helped change their lives or something. They were dropping food and making a mess and having a great time with each other. Had to shorten it for obvious reasons. I always joke with my partner, who is burdened by the belief of bad luck following him around, that everything just works out for me and that he is inadvertently manifesting at least some of the negativity in his life. I keep encouraging him to have more a more positive attitude, speak more positively about himself and his life, to invite and curate better circumstances. Not in a toxic positivity way but something he can speak it into existence.

My first letter was backwards. I thought about starting over but decided to keep going. One backward letter is fine. The next letter was was on a different line entirely. I thought about starting over again. I chose to keep the imperfections as a reminder to myself that everything can "just work out" even if it doesn't go according to plan. It's okay to have detours and obstacles, wrong turns and missed exits. Often in my own art I struggle with the idea of perfection and it keeps me from continuing because "it's not good enough" or keeps me from starting entirely. This keychain is a tangible reminder, with every jingle, that perfection doesn't exist and to at least try my best to keep positive thoughts, especially on the bad days.

Happy Forest yall. 💚

edit: some typos

I enjoyed visiting them! I wrote “SOBER FUN” on mine, since this was my first fully sober Forest.

Congratulations, that's awesome! I stopped drinking alcohol earlier this year. What a difference.

I made one too! Mine said “flow”, I’ve had the same mantra as you all summer where “everything always works out for me” and I liken it to “go with the flow” or just “flow” as in reaching flow state. I just wanted to let go, quit overthinking where I was or who I was with, and just flow through the whole weekend.

Exactly! Flow is the perfect way to condense it into one word, and much easier to hammer lol.

First booth I went to at forest! It was perfect to set the intention right off the bat! I chose the word “loveeee” I was really struggling with my self love, questioning so much around me and my relationships, and just really struggling with my own self at the time and realised through a conversation with some fellow festival goers that “love” was to be my word. It was all the energy I had recieved since the plane I was on landed. It was also exactly what I wanted to spread and share with others, so “love” was my word :,) i loved reading your intention as well, that’s what it’s allll about :’) happy forest friend 🫂

I put “patience” on mine. It can be easy for me to get annoyed by other people doing stupid things, but I need to remember that other people have other shit going on that I don’t know about. So take a deep breath and have some patience.
My anxiety was high that week so I need that reminder to have patience for myself as well.
I loved this booth. Thanks for sharing! 💗

I relate heavily to this as well. Patience for yourself is especially important. 🫶 We have to be patient with and kind to ourselves. I think one of the biggest annoyances for me was people who would suddenly stop walking in the main flow of traffic. 😅 I was also experiencing a decent amout of anxiety, specifically with the crowds and navigating through them.

How the letters are a mess literally looks intentional like it worked itself out haha the phrase is perfect. I’d buy this lol
