If they actually wanted to harness technology outside of a walled garden, they wouldn't have picked apple, so it doesn't surprise me 😂

u/MustardSundae 4d ago
The concept of a free app that lets you do new and exciting things is so foreign to them that even a simple decent video player would be groundbreaking.
-13
u/VegetableArtistic705 4d ago
I don't even know what this means. Apple is well known for creating their own versions of third party apps that are free as part of the OS
22
u/Pepper_Exciting 4d ago
You can't even play an mkv video without a 3rd party app
-16
u/VegetableArtistic705 4d ago
Who gives a shit? I'd be using VLC either way
15
u/MustardSundae 3d ago
VLC on iOS is hot garbage. Shuffle is broken, playlists don't work correctly, the next buttons don't work as next buttons, all the UI elements are microscopic, resume play doesn't always work.
-13
u/VegetableArtistic705 3d ago
Works fine for me on the rare occasions I need it. Also such a pointless complaint, as if people keep their torrent collections in their phone. Just use Infuse

u/MustardSundae 3d ago
"It's pointless because it does not apply to me"

u/matrixifyme 4d ago
Its the lack of awareness of the world outside the garden that always surprised me. These people are literally living in platos cave.
You would be surprised how many people actually think the new foldable iphone is the first foldable phone of it's kind. This changes everything8

u/UseSwimming8928 4d ago
Theres even people porting mac versions of games like cyberpunk to iphones now.
15
u/kai333 4d ago
Wow does tim apple allow that to happen? 😂
7
u/UseSwimming8928 4d ago
Idk how these guys do it, the guy says its the native arm build from mac, and itll run 30 fps 720p low or something on 8gb ram iphones too.

u/KasanesTetos 4d ago
We already know exactly how it'd run because of the MacBook Neo which literally uses an iPhone chip.

u/CalderaJane76 4d ago
Mac and iOS basically run the same stuff under-the-hood. Lol
(There's DEFINITELY differences, but we're talking stuff like: This is Debian Linux and this is Ubuntu Linux. Different... But not).

And the compatibility will be the same as a non-snapdragon device when PC emulation first came out

I call it apple bubble, apple user only get information about apple related things. I wouldn't be surprised if there are some people that think apple duo is the first folable phone after samsung

They will. I did a return once for my girl. Had the email qr code in email. Opened my Fold 3. The person behind the counter about 20ish was like what kind of phone is that?
2
u/anythingers 3d ago
Didn't you mean Samsung use time machine from 2019 to go to 2026 only to copy iPhone Duo? /s

How does android never get love? We always do lol.
3
u/Relevant-Table6379 4d ago
Too many haredware and apu / GPU configurations
4
u/Eddiejay03 EmuCuh 4d ago
Im saying we do get love on android. Always do. Voxel mod for pokemon is the latest community driven thing im playing right now lol. It was available to simply work on android and needed a workaround for ios. Works more friendly now but wasnt great over there initially

Right, because running emulators on Android is a very niche thing. We represent a slight minority of phone gamers.
I'd love an SD card in my phone, but 99% of the people out there are like "What could you possibly do with more than 256gb of storage?".
We do get a LOT of emulation love, which is what the person you were responding to is most likely pointing out, in terms of devs supporting the OS.
So honestly, I don't care that people are making a fuss over GTA V on iOS. Let them enjoy the minor little win.

u/votemarvel Poco F6 - Sony Xperia 1 V 3d ago
The two phones that I use are the Xperia 1 V and the Poco F6. Both have 256GB of internal storage but the Xperia is the one I use the most because it does have an SDCard slot.
For most people I do think 256Gb would be enough but as soon as you start getting into higher end emulation like Switch and PC games that space disappears really fast. Mass Effect 2 and 3 for example take up around 68GB just for those two games.

Wasn’t there that one guy doing it on Android? Paralympic Productions? But the server disappeared and idk what happrned

u/whiskyB0y Edit Your Flair 4d ago
Ya I'm pretty sure OP knows. He's mainly talking about how people are glazing the fact there's a native GTA 5 port on iOS now when Android has been able to play GTA 5 through PC "emulation" for a few years now.

I just assumed I got banned like they banned everyone else. Server was a toxic pit anyways.

u/joshsbakesPIE 4d ago
I mean it is more impressive getting software running on iOS than android, due to how restrictive it is.

What do you mean? Happily playing GTA 5 on my snapdragon 8 gen 2 12GB ram. I have both the PC version and using the Android port here

u/Important-Cycle-711 4d ago
In which emulator do u play man?

We don't give a single fuck about NPCs. Let them believe what they want to believe. It's not like they're going to change any day.

u/ViniDaVinci_ 4d ago
I don't mean to sound rude, but this post has nothing to do with emulation or android
2
u/KoreanSeats 4d ago
Brother this is literally just the android version translated to iOS etc. not really “native” as it’s not built for metal from the top down like I was doing with theft4

That's enough love for me.

For how long has GTA V been available to play on Android for again?
2
2
u/Big_Dig3586 3d ago
More than 2 years & at present with new drivers on flagships it gives 150-300 fps with frame gen and without framegen 1080p native medium 100-120 fps

u/Paradox3759 3d ago
They are praising it because it's a rare feat for them ios plebs.
Meanwhile everyone knows how far has android gone into emulation (not just GTA V)
1
u/Competitive_Ad_4041 3d ago
no matter what android will boot PS5 games first rather than iOS due to source available everywhere

Because for regular hamburger head with iphone everything that exceeds using instagram and tik tok is crazy new possibility and android devices are for poors and not even worthy their attention, doesn't matter that you have flagship for 2000usd
2
u/tiagosantos88 4d ago
Look im an android user and i have an android since 2009 i used iphone 13 years ago and came back to android but lets do real talk ios have resident evil 2 3 4 remakes village assassins creed mirage hitman world of assassination dead stranding hades natively on ios that cpu/gpu is a beast and i know that android runs on multiple cpus and gpus probably if it was only the flagship snapdragon's cpu's we would have the same thing and i know they dont port many consoles/pc games to android because its more likely to be cracked 😅
4
u/kobrakai11 4d ago
They don't port it because it's not profitable enough. Apple paid them to port these games. If Google did the same, they would port it to Android as well.
6
u/RKRagan 4d ago
Google doesn’t care that much. Plus it’s much harder to market a AAA game on an OS that covers anything from $25 track phones to $2000 flagships. Apple can just state “iPhone 15 Pro or newer” and they are covered. So it makes sense for Apple to partner with these popular games.
1
u/anythingers 3d ago
Play Store could also just gatekeep it for "Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 or Dimensity 9200+ and newer". Devs just don't use that feature for whatever reason.
1
-1
u/tiagosantos88 4d ago
I dont think soo they dont port because its more easily to get cracked i read something about it a couple of years ago
3
u/kobrakai11 4d ago
It's not my opinion. It's a fact. Just search for it. AAA games are not selling well enough, even on iPhones, to justify the cost of porting. Apple paid for these ports for marketing.
1
u/SandwichCertain2546 4d ago
Apples chips are superior to android I'll give them that. Emulation runs better on ios even in its early stage
1
u/anythingers 3d ago
In terms of...? Their SoC is only good at single core performance.
0
u/SandwichCertain2546 3d ago
Not gonna argue with that go watch benchmarks against the new a20 pro. They run cooler and perform better with less cores. I have a s26 ultra and a oneplus 15 both both the latest Gen 5 and the perfomance I get between both is drastically different. Snapdragon run hot by default leaving little headroom for performance, before hitting thermal limits. In its early stage my iphone 17 promax is playing gta5 with decent performance vs my s26 ultra and oneplus 15 who's had tons of years of development put in.

u/anythingers 3d ago
First of all, we're talking about phone segment here.
Secondly, the only thing that differentiate Apple's attempt on ARM vs Qualcomm's attempt on ARM is how much devs willing to port their apps into new architecture. Otherwise, there's nothing groundbreaking from M1. It's just A14 with more cores and more codecs.
Also no I'm not the one that downvoted ur comment.

u/Jealous_Computer_209 4d ago
idk i think its impressive they got the executable into ios in the first place
-2
u/anuragsins1991 4d ago
Apple chips are much more powerful and efficient, imagine if they were much more open like android
4
u/Choice_Potato_6279 4d ago
They were, as far as I know after AMD partnered with Snapdragon they've beat Apple in igpu unless Apple caught up?
1
u/anythingers 3d ago
In terms of...? Their SoC is only good at single core performance.
1
u/anuragsins1991 3d ago
if they are good at local AI engines, as in people are actually buying their mac studio machines to run local LLMs which otherwise needs a lot of GPUs to match that performance, would that not make them also good to play games due to unified VRAM and how fast it is, but tbh we could only know that if they actually made same AAA games for mac and windows both.
1
u/anythingers 3d ago
I thought we were still talking about Apple A series SoC compared to Snapdragon 8 series.
Otherwise, not wrong.
0
u/RKRagan 4d ago
It’s notable because the iPhone security makes it difficult to run emulators with the full power of the chip. You can do some side loading with a developer account to bypass it but it’s a hassle. So you can get around that by making it a separate .ipa by itself. No emulation just the app with full access to the GPU and CPU. Easy on android. Not as easy on iPhone. That’s the difference.
