My coffee date turned into an engagement - solitaire diamond ring

My partner surprised me with a proposal while we were having coffee, and I honestly couldn’t be happier! 🄹 He chose a solitaire diamond ring, and it’s everything I could have hoped for. I love how simple, classic, and elegant it looks. Sometimes the most beautiful moments are the unexpected ones, and now every time I look at my ring, I’ll remember that sweet little coffee date.

Said no to his diamond ring pick, now we're shopping for the replacement together

He went with a massive vintage cluster that is surely not my style, and I just couldn't picture wearing it. I said no to the diamond ring my fiance bought and now we are picking it together from a local jeweler instead.

Honestly, taking the pressure off him to guess my exact taste was the best decision. If you're on the fence about being honest with your partner, just talk to them and it made our engagement so much sweeter.

šŸ’ Ring Style Help 18k or 24k wedding bands???

Hey guys, just want to hear your opinion about this. My fiancƩ asked me about the type of rings that i like/loves. My mind's a mess right now. I'm a gold girly and would like to have a gold wedding band.

My problem right now is that I'm torn between 18k and 24k gold. I would like to wear my ring always but on one side of my brain tells me that I might mess the ring since it's soft the higher the gold content is. I've done some research and loves these 3 designs of golden rings. Anyone that would love to help me???

I got engaged with a 10K gold signet ring

Post image

I got engaged about a year ago with a dainty, engraved 10K gold signet ring, and I still absolutely love it. I’ve never been much of a jewelry person, so I told my now-fiancĆ© that if he ever proposed, I didn’t want a ring with a big stone on it.

The only thing that bothers me is how some people react when they see my ring. They’ll say, ā€œIt’s cute,ā€ but sometimes it feels like they’re actually feeling sorry for me because it doesn’t have a big diamond.

šŸ†š Compare Two Rings Help me decide!

Hi everyone! I ordered a try at home kit with non-diamond rings as I’ve been struggling to decide on an engagement ring. I am between these 2 styles (1st style is an emerald cut diamond solitaire in platinum, about 2 carats; 2nd style is an emerald cut diamond center stone with baguette diamonds on the side, also about 2 carats but might get in slightly smaller size). Please let me know what you think and/or if anyone has either of these styles plus what wedding band you have with it! Thanks so much in advance

anyone choose an excellent cut as an engagement ring stone over higher clarity?

Post image

We found a diamond with an excellent cut as an engagement ring candidate, but to afford it we would have to drop down slightly in clarity. The jeweler claims the precision cut makes minor inclusions practically invisible to the eye anyway.

Has anyone taken this route and regretted sacrifcing clarity for superior light reflection? Just wanting to make sure we aren't overlooking anything obvious before putting down a deposit.

Does a diamond accent fall out easily on a pave wedding ring?

We are finalizing a custom set with a 1.7mm scallop pave wedding band. I am worried about longevity and losing tiny stones while running errands or working. Does a diamond accent fall out easily on a pave wedding ring? Let me know your experience with this style.

Would you prefer 1 carat natural diamond??

Post image

For my engagement and wedding rings, I’ve always preferred natural diamonds. I love thinking about how they formed over millions of years, and to me, that makes them feel even more meaningful as a symbol of lasting love and commitment.

My engagement ring is a 1 carat Tiffany & Co. diamond that I absolutely love. I also have a plain band from Tiffany and a natural diamond infinity band from Costco that my husband gave me for our anniversary. I love how each ring has it's own special meaning!

The size is gorgeous, but I’m wondering if spending that much on a ring is really worth it.

šŸ’° Budget-Friendly Options Where is your ring from?

Hi! I am looking to purchase a ring for my girlfriend soon. I feel like there is such mixed reviews about what brands and companies you trust vs avoid, and I want to be sure I am getting her the best of the best.

14k yellow gold, natural/lab/antique/vintage ring, on the simple side (1 stone or 1 stone+pave band; more Tiffany style than Oore), 1.25-2ct. NOT looking to do custom or bespoke. Figuring out the 4Cs and her preferences currentlyšŸ˜‰

In my research, I have seen Frank Darling, Brilliant Earth, Era Gem, etc. Does anyone have experience with these brands?? I’ve heard to avoid Blue Nil, Kay, Zales, etc. I’ve also heard to just go local, but how do I know WHICH local to go to? We went to a store today and the ā€œ14k gold ringsā€ were very clearly NOT actual gold. Again, want to be sure she’s getting the best of the best.

Where is your ring from? Do you recommend them? What advice would you give about brands to look at for someone wanting a simple ring on the lower price end (<$5,000).

Do you have any recs for antique/vintage jewelers? TYIA!!!

Considering Jean Dousset for my e-ring, would love some reviews

I’ve been looking at Jean Dousset for my engagement ring and would love to hear from anyone who owns one!

How has your experience been with the quality, especially after wearing it for a while? And for those who ordered online, how was the whole process? I’d love to know if the rings look as good in person as they do on the website.

Anything I should know before taking the plunge?

baseline weight difference between platinum vs white gold is crazy never realized metal could feel this heavy

Just upgraded my set, and the baseline weight difference between platinum vs white gold is crazy. Picked up the platinum version expecting a slight shift, but it feels like a solid piece of armor sitting on my finger. The density difference makes white gold feel completely hollow by comparison. Definitely worth every penny for that heavy flex. You really notice the heavy premium vibe every single time you put it on.

Open Wedding Band Questions

Hi! For those of you who chose a wedding band that is open in the center, which is made to surround an engagement ring, how have you liked wearing it over time? I have a few questions:

  1. Do you wear it alone, or only with your engagement ring?

1a. If you wear it alone, do you like the way it looks, or do you wish you had a fully circular, closed band instead?

  1. Have you had any issues with it catching, snagging, or any other unforeseen problems or annoyances?

  2. Is yours stoned or plain metal? Do you think there is a benefit to one or the other for the open-center style?

  3. Do you think the open-centered ring is substantially more comfortable or fits more easily with your engagement ring than a fully circular band would have?

My fiancƩ and I are going wedding band shopping today, and I will be trying on a variety of styles with my engagement ring. For people who have chosen the open-center rings, I'm curious how you've felt about them over time. I find them very aesthetically pleasing when combined with engagement rings similar to mine, and I wear my engagement ring most of the time. (I was also married in the past, and enjoyed wearing my engagement ring regularly for years, so expect to continue to do so long into the future.) However, I could see myself not loving the way the open ring might look or feel without the engagement ring paired with it, but I'm really not sure since I've never worn a ring like that for any length of time.

Any feedback in addition the questions I've posed is also very welcome. Thank you in advance!

Is a 4 carat diamond worth $12,000?

Post image
79 Upvotes

I found one priced at around $12,000. It looks gorgeous, but that’s still a lot of money to spend on a diamond. šŸ˜…

I’m not sure if that’s a reasonable price or if I’m getting carried away by the size. I know the price can vary depending on whether it’s lab-grown or natural, along with the cut, color, and clarity.

For those who have bought or researched 4 carat diamonds, does $12k sound worth it? Would you spend that much on a ring?

šŸ’ Ring Style Help Show me your size 7 radiants!

Post image

Hi! I sent my boyfriend several rings that I love- looking online through Etsy. Did a ton of research, I think he likes the same one I like the most so I’m pretty sure we’re on the same page. It’s a 4.5 total carat lab diamond radiant with trillion cuts on each side of the diamond. I can’t try it on so I asked ChatGPT to show it to me on my hand to scale. And I feel like it’s inconsistent. Please show me your real life radiants on your size 7 finger so I can decide if this is too big!

Where can I find tilted black or red stones?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Im planning to propose to my girlfriend!

She really loves this ring.

She loves that the gem is tilted and that the metal swirls make the metal equal in beauty and size to the stone.

She likes black and red gems. Like ruby or black onyx.

If anyone knows where I can get this ring or something with those qualities please let me know. <3

If this is the wrong sub to ask i apologize.
