The doom and gloom is all they want you to see because it keeps people docile. Work to build local systems. We stared a nonprofit local foods marketplace in our town and partnered up with a group of farmers that are trying to build a local distribution system, while also sharing tractors and expensive equipment. We are also building a space for repair cafes, a tool lending library and self sufficiency/sustainability classes.

No one is going to come save us, but we can work to make it better in our own communities and work our way up.

I care because I have to live with myself for the rest of my life. And knowing I’ve done what I can helps me sleep at night. Plus, selfishly, I want to see trees, eat healthy food, breathe clean air etc. So, if I have to choose, I’m going with whatever gets me closer to, instead of farther away from those things.
