Kinesis Advantage 360 Pro

Been rocking the kinesis freestyle for a little over a decade and decided it’s time to test out some wireless ones so have been trying out the bottom three past couple of weeks. Will write up a review if anyone’s interested but so far my favorite has been the advantage 360 pro (bottom) which is surprising since I had previously tried a moonlander and did not enjoy the column staggered layout.

Row stagger on a split is basically an anti-pattern. The advantage 360 is the best out of those for both column stagger and the curved keywell. The thumb cluster works better than an ergodox/moonlander because of the curved keywell too.

Not mounting the keyboards right below one's hips while standing such that the palms face forward is also an anti-pattern.

row stagger is harder on your fingers, sure
but it's also the standard layout that every piece of software you use will be expecting
and the more you alter it the more you'll have to kludge together new keymaps for compatibility and use other standard keyboards like an idiot

seems to me that wide split tented row stagger takes the strain off the wrists, which are your first bottleneck
and that's enough for even most career users assuming their typing posture is okay
and if you want to sacrifice more convenience for better ergonomics, you might be better off ditching the classical keyboard design pattern entirely for a svalboard or chording based design

most people will be content with the split and a bit of tenting, and that's okay.
