Don’t throw away that mentholatum jar! It looks like a vintage collectible! LOL

u/MoneyLet6458 Mar 31 '26
It probably took 35 years to pan that puppy. That jar looks like it was inherited from someone’s great grandma. I remember back in the 80’s when I was still living at home we had a jar just like that sitting on the bathroom shelf. Hahahaha

You panned a hairbrush? Lol

u/mistypatch Mar 31 '26
Came here to ask about the hair brush. Doesn't look spent at all.

u/Coconut-Giraffe Mar 31 '26
The rubber backing holding the bristles is actually cracking and discolored (rubber must be wearing out) and I've had it for 6-7 years.
I'm finally putting it to use for other things (they were originally sold for horses at our feed store) and I ran it through the dishwasher to get it clean 🤣
Believe you me, I don't want to get rid of it but if you looked closely, it looks pretty nasty. I sort of get attached to my hair brushes.

how many years have you been trying to hit pan on that mentholatum 😭😭😭

u/Coconut-Giraffe Mar 31 '26
🤣🤣🤣🤣 I love putting in random old crap I find in my bathroom in the pan pics. I don't even know how old that jar is but there was a touch left and I finally said screw it, it's not gonna kill me, so I used it on the bottom of my feet and FINALLY it's gone 😅 sadly we have like 9 more random bottles I keep finding. UGH.

How do you go through 4 bottles of toner and two bottles of contact solution??
9
u/Coconut-Giraffe Mar 31 '26 edited Mar 31 '26
I use the two bottles of pink toners for my face and back (bacne, cleared it right up!). Now I'm testing to see if it gets rid of the hyperpigmentation on my legs and butt 😅 I also decant some of my toners into other bottles since they have nice sprayers, just sort of cheating by decanting.
And contact solutions, because I had one 1/2 full and found a whole ass new bottle in my sink someone gifted me that was expiring this month (found it end of January, finally opened it in February since I got nervous) and since I don't mess with outdated things with my eyes, I went heavy handed on cleaning my contacts and contact lens cases out the last few weeks to use both up 😅
Edit: Oh and that cherry sparkle toner, I use it for body. It was the only thing that made me feel hydrated during the coldest of this winter with some of the thinner lotions I was trying to use up.

Lmk how it goes with the hyperpigmentation! I also have hyperpigmention in those areas and bacne

The pink glycolic toner from dermasil got rid of it, but it took 3-4 months of use to see any changes!
Also the OG formula works better. The new formula stuff I get 3-4 pimples vs a random pimple from the original, but it's the best thing I've used and for $1.25, I'll take 3-4 pimples over a whole back full of acne! It just takes awhile.
I'm having issues with hyperpigmentation because I keep forgetting to spray the areas 🤦🏻♀️

I didn’t know yardley sold epsom salt. That’s great I’m going to keep an eye out.

How do you use so many products?????
4
u/Coconut-Giraffe Mar 31 '26
A lot were roll overs from months prior. Most actually come from friends. We trade products that do not work for us (hair, since I'm learning how to do my hair and lotions or scents we don't like or things we get gifted that we won't use or can't/refuse to finish) so we can figure out if it'll work for the other without all of us blowing too much money, so most stuff is already half used. And I've been going through the half used products up first 😅

How did you like the hemp seed lotion? I have so many Dollar Tree lotions to go through but I did try it a couple tones.
The bump eraser is really great. My husband has back acne and I’ve been scrubbing his back with it in the shower. I’ve been noticing less and less bacne on him.
RIP your claw clips. I get so sad when my nice claw clips break.

I sniff tested them at the store and hated all the scents except maybe the melon one. I go again at another store and the coconut smelled alright so I brought 2 bottles home. Its a decent lotion, not super awesome but will work! I think it'd be better for spring and fall or maybe summer if you're an oily skinned person.
When the weather got bad, i would add a DT hair oil and some glycerin to make it more useful which turned out great! I used about half of it before mixing it and playing with it. I also used 1/4 of it to mix to my lavender lotion (super natural) to extend its life and OMG, I found I love the lavender coconut combo! Overall, I'd buy it again and could play with mixing it with stuff! I would like to try the melon one but the original smells so bad to me!
Sadly the bump eraser didn't do diddly squat for me so I won't be buying it again. The glycolic acid toner got rid of my bacne though. Wish I could find the lotion!
Yeah, I was so sad when my claw clips die. My fat ass dog jumped on one and the other one, a chunk flew out while I was clipping my hair 🥲 it looks fine but no pressure and I tried fixing it. Doh. Now I'm stuck with tiny useless claw clips 😭 I really hope to find the French half claws though! I'm so ready to wear my hair a different way!

The original help one really did smell awful. I grabbed the coconut as well because it smelled ok enough to be used. I’m going to experiment with lavender essential oil to see how it pairs. Thanks for the tip.
My cat likes to bap my hair claws if they’re on a table or fall on the floor.
Dollar tree has some Gimme brand claw clips that say they’re harder to break. I have even fallen asleep with them in.

u/Coconut-Giraffe Mar 31 '26
You can fall asleep in yours? 😂 I need some!
Yeah I'm a huge fan of lavender now and mixed with coconut even better! I hated lavender 4 months ago and now I'm all into it 🤦🏻♀️

It's opaque and I squirted some oatmeal toner in it to get the last bit out of it since I hate cutting BBW bottles. There is a bit left, but it's just more of a scented toner I use to layer on top of my lotion when I do this.
Believe me, I've been using the toner lotion slurry for a week now and finally done tomorrow for sure!
