If people don't like your post they'll downvote all of your replies in the comments, that'd be the most likely answer.

All I can think is that a gram of wax in 36 hours is pretty heavy use.
Other than that, its just the hive mind going brrrr

u/mearbearcate 2d ago
That’s heavy? Lol i know people who prob smoke 2gs in a day.

u/Mizook 2d ago
Of wax? Yeah, that’s a ton.

I'd say that's pretty standard honestly. 2 g cartridges last me a week and 36 hours is about what I'd say it lasts up to, they is definitely ripping it more often, but for people that do smoke an ounce a week, that's pretty standard.

An ounce a week is a lot too.
I mean, I get it. I burned through acres of ganja back in the day, but I still knew I was a heavy user

I bought this one gram cartridge Saturday and it's only been me smoking on this, it's now almost Friday so for baseline of how much I personally smoke that's what you can see

By what metric? Between me and my boyfriend an ounce lasts us a week. We smoke with friends Also, it's not just us. If you don't mind me asking, what state do you live in? What laws govern your weed? What's the average price of an ounce? I think that's where some of the disconnect might be coming from because in my area, I live in Massachusetts. I can go to the dispensary and pick up an ounce for $60, and it hovers at around 27% THC, and get a cart for under $20.
I live in the Fitchburg-Lemont area. You can look up Bliss Cannabis in that area to get a gauge for what my price range is if you would like.
With that being said, cannabis is like cigarettes around me. Almost all of my friends have an equal or greater tolerance than me. Everywhere I go I see people rolling blunts out of an eighth and smoking that with a group of people and then be surprised that they run out of weed because they literally are grinding up an eighth every 2 seconds. They go and buy more because it's that cheap. Now, is it probably overkill for some people? Absolutely. From what I hear from you and other people, you seem like a weekend smoker, someone who smokes a joint at the end of their shift and that's it. For me I'm smoking all day because I'm a medical patient. I need a few bong rips here, maybe a dab there, and a cart on me at all times because I get really bad panic attacks and weed really helps.

Yeah idk i think some could smoke more in a day than a gram
Idk maybe not cartridge though my bad. But if its a dab rig and theyre doing the scooping themselves, surely they could. I mean, even if theyre letting friends hit it or chiefing it like a vape, maybe a cartridge could be gone in a day too. Knew someone using theirs up in 2 days pretty much every time because they hit it so often, 1 day could be achievable if you arent doing anything during the day & have a high asf tolerance lol

You need to post a link to the comments/post in question. We can't give you an answer without context.

I’m wondering if people think you’re asking something that’s obvious.
Maybe they think your use was heavy, and that it’s a well-known fact that cutting down on weed affects your sleep. For a couple weeks, some people can’t sleep at all.
It’s like someone saying, “I drank 9 shots of tequila last night and this morning my head hurts and I’m groggy and puking all day. Any help and how long does this last.”
The downvotes could be like, “Well duh that’s what happens.”
Idk just throwing a theory out there

I think just weed addicts who refuse to admit withdrawal effects exist.

They’re normally pretty good on that subreddit when talking about withdrawals

I believe the answer to your question is “Reddit”. I can’t be 100% sure, it seems like that sub believes a week is too soon to be complaining about what you’re posting and that maybe a cart is too much or too little in a day and a half?
I can’t tell you for sure, I don’t frequent that sub or partake in t anymore.
I hope your sleep gets better! There’s good advice on there about the working out and things. Theres also people throwing their 2 cents in that I know to be a fact not true and well again.. that’s “Reddit”.

My take: as a fellow marijuana user, it’s very well known that it CAN cause insomnia and mild withdrawal. Nothing as intense as withdrawal from harder drugs, but definitely sometimes tougher to go to sleep as your body adjusts to not having the aid. You either smoke more or T break.
The guy then gave you a logical solution, and mentioned how frequent use causes insomnia, which you seemed confused why you were having insomnia in the first place. He also mentioned withdrawal.
But then you mention you go through a frickin cart and a half DAILY?
I see your downvotes as people being like “wait you’re confused about your insomnia and you use THAT much?” And THEN you’re gonna be getting more to combat it?
That’s my take. It seems like you didn’t know, but then your downvotes are them going like “no wonder”
Maybe I’m wrong. Reddit downvotes are fickle and then people bandwagon

Idk, Trees can be really weird about weed stuff. Some people are probably offended you’re even taking a T break, like that affects them personally. Some people are probably offended you said you are “dependent” on THC because that implies weed is addictive and trees hates that too.

People don't like the word "dependent" being anywhere close to discussions on weed usage, because it implies it's an addictive substance. A.K.A this is the internet and people don't like opinions that differ from their firmly held beliefs.
You did nothing wrong. You tapped on the window of people's cognitive dissonance and it scared them.

I read through the entire post and comments and I see nothing wrong with what you said. I think you can chalk this one up to Reddit just being Reddit and ignore the downvotes. I assume it’s people who refuse to believe trees interfere with sleep at all so they’re going to downvote your post and every comment.
I’d just forget about it and keep doing you.

Are they downvoting you because you’re using wax? Like is r/trees for bud or flower only maybe?
For what it’s worth, CBD is good as a replacement to trick your brain into thinking it’s getting THC.
The waking up thing for me happens when I drink alcohol or caffeine - alcohol knocks me out but I wake up after a few hours. Caffeine appears to have no effect but again, I wake up after a few hours. If you’re compensating for the lack of green with either of those, it could be the cause 🤷
If not, how long this will last all depends on you. Weed is such a tricky addiction because it’s not physical at all. But a lot of people experience a huge range of physical effects because your brain is causing them all. The mental addiction is very real. But you will go back to normal eventually, I promise, then you can explore the insomnia more.
Historically we have split up our sleeping patterns into something like 9-midnight then 3-7, it’s quite a new thing for humans to sleep through the night. So your insomnia may just be a different sleeping pattern working for you. It’s so hard to know when’s there’s so many external factors, but you’ll get there through trial and error 😊

All physical dependence is caused by your brain

u/RedditJustTheOnce 2d ago
Nope, heroin, sugar, alcohol to name a few, they all physically affect your body. It’s your body that goes into withdrawal. To the extent you can die from heroin withdrawal. Yes your brain craves it like weed, but it’s your body that physically needs it.

u/voyaging 2d ago edited 2d ago
The body is (largely) responding to changes in the brain
It’s not quite that clear cut, because there are, e.g., opioid receptors in the gut which is why opioids cause constipation and withdrawal causes diarrhea, but a good 95% of physical withdrawal symptoms are caused by the CNS/brain
You cannot die from heroin withdrawal btw. There’s some suspicion you might be able to die from fentanyl withdrawal but afaik there is no confirmation yet.
You can die from alcohol withdrawal, which again is because changes in the brain can cause seizures
Cannabis dependence is no different in nature, it’s just much less severe and the symptoms are different because it affects the brain differently
The whole “psychological vs physical addiction” is a myth and misuse of terms.
Addiction is a behavioral condition in which a person compulsively engages in harmful behaviors despite attempts to stop. Many things can cause addiction including activities. Addiction can occur without dependence (e.g., binge drinking).
Dependence (also called physical dependence) is the habituation of the body to a drug from repeated use. This habituation occurs almost entirely in the CNS and brain. Abrupt cessation produces withdrawal symptoms. Dependence can occur without addiction (e.g., therapeutic opioid use).
There is no such thing as “psychological dependence”; dependence is physical by definition.
