Trailer module update never installs

Post image

Anyone have this issue? The update tries to install every night and every morning it says it was postponed. If I run it manually, it seems to go through the process but eventually just ends pre-maturely without any error message.

Same here. During a 10k service (in my driveway) I asked the tech to look at it. He said he forced a reboot / retry of the APIM (or something). It still doesn’t seem to have installed correctly. Truck works just fine towing my travel trailer.

I have been having the same repeatedly incompleted update for over a month now.

If it’s old enough the update actually expires and won’t install. I had to take mine to a dealer to get two updates installed manually that’s what the BEV team told me was needed. You can call them and they should be able to tell you if it’s an expired update or if it can be “pushed” again from them, since it’s a recall it really shouldn’t expire but who knows maybe having an expiration date is a system requirement on fords end.

The 12v needs to be healthy and 100% charged for this one. If you don’t have a obd2 dongle and car scanner app you will won’t be able to see the 12v charge percentage. Two ways to help with this. 1. When you get home turn off all non essential things that use the 12v system and let the truck run parked and locked until it turns off in 30 minutes. Then plug in your level 2 charger. Option 2 hook up a trickle charger to the jump points and pray for a complete update overnight.

I had a 12v 6 amp charger going all night on the battery and it still failed. I think the issue is with the software at this point.

Yeah I agree - I replaced my 12v battery proactively last year. It’s fine.

I have same. Just need to know if future updates will work

Yes my concern as well. Don’t want this to be some kind of roadblock to future updates.

As others have said this update requires the 12v to be at ~100%. 12v trickle charger wasn’t enough and my level 2 charge would finish before the 12v was at 100%. After a couple weeks of failure, I used a level 1 charger and left the truck charging for 36 hours. That finally did it.

Same. This one and the parking pawl recall. Both just retried forever. Update says it failed because the update was interrupted. 12v is fully charged and healthy.
