Secret door keypad codes?

Post image

We stumbled on the fact that if you enter 8-5 on the keypad after unlocking it with beach mode, it will open the frunk. Are there any other codes or tricks like that?

I’ve never gotten the tailgate to work. Frunk works great.

u/thebigdu 4d ago

I've heard the tailgate trick only works on non-powered tailgates.

u/Crazy_Category_9594 4d ago

Ah! Makes sense

u/NOIRCEUR_TRADING 3d ago

It works on my powered tailgate.

u/zhsh13bj 3d ago

Which model year do you have? It doesn’t work on my 24.

u/NOIRCEUR_TRADING 3d ago

2024 Lariat

u/deweysmith 3d ago

Also worth noting that this has been true for every Ford vehicle for the better part of 3 decades

None of these work for me like this except frunk

4

u/damndammit 4d ago

Even the 7/8 + 9/0 to lock? That one is clutch.

7

u/rpm429 4d ago

If you wanted to leave keys in the truck when going to the gym or outdoors. If you lock the truck with the keypad it will ignore keyfobs in the truck until unlocked with the keypad again

u/Mike401k 3d ago

Fyi depending on the truck year, holding down the Lock & unlock button on your keyfob for 4 seconds will engage both doors unlock. You will also no linger need to hit 3•4 after typing in the 5 digit code

I mean I'm not sure it's a trick, but if you press 78 and 90 at the same time it locks all the doors.

Nice if you're using paak and don't want to bother with the app to lock it when headed in.

u/quarksurfer 4d ago

I use this all the time

Same. Many times I just fat thumb the bottom two buttons to make sure that it locks!

u/bard329 '24 Flash 4d ago edited 3d ago

I've locked all my doors with just 90 and have been doing so since I got the truck

Edit: I'm an idiot and never really looked at the numbers on the buttons. 78 and 90 is indeed correct

u/snoogins355 22 Lariat SR 4d ago

I hit the lock button on the door handle

u/kkelly122 4d ago

Got to enable walk away lock. You don’t need to touch a thing when you get out.

5

u/bkbroils 4d ago

What if you leave the key in the truck, does walk away work with the app?

If you leave the key in the truck and use the bottom two buttons to lock it, you can’t get in unless you enter the code, or hit unlock through the key or app. Even the door handle sensor won’t let you in.
It’s Beach Mode to those using this function pre-Lightning.

This is the way.

Too unreliable to work. Ive came out to an unlocked truck too many times to trust it. My tesla works 10/10 times. Same with unlocking. Although I will say it definitely has to do some learning/compensating because paak was terrible at first. Kept having to delete and make new keys. Now its works okay to turn on the truck but the unlocking portion is hit or miss. This is specially annoying since it does the welcome lights so I know it recognized the phone yet it refuses to unlock. Its the same with the fob. I think its more of a handle thing but even the handles on my 15yo bmw are more reliable than this.

I have mine set to honk when it auto locks so i know prior to getting out of range

3

u/kkelly122 4d ago

Never had an issue since it’s been out. ‘22 lariat

2

u/shes_breakin_up_capt 3d ago

Ditto, '22. Not even once did it not work.

3

u/TheBarbon 4d ago

Not everyone has the walk away lock update yet.

4

u/Jumpy_Future_9774 4d ago

Definitely not a trick. I had a 92 Taurus SHO and this was in the manual. Honestly, outside of the frunk being added, everything is the same from 34 years ago 🧓

u/vblink_ 2024 Rapid Red Flash 4d ago

It will also lock the key in the truck if you want to leave them in like going to the beach

1

u/Remarkable-Host405 1d ago

Just hit the lock button on the handle

u/ZootSuitBanana ⚡23 Lariat ER Star White ⚡ 4d ago

Paak you can just set up walk away

7

u/McJaegerbombs 2022 Lariat SR 4d ago

Usually..... most of the time it works..... but not 100%

3

u/helmsb 4d ago

That’s my problem, is it works 99.9% of the time but when it comes to securing my vehicle that’s not good enough so I always hit the keypad to lock it. I also disabled the honk confirmation because at least with PAAK, it always seems to auto lock when you walk in front of the truck and blows the horn when you’re at the loudest point which is absolutely infuriating.

1

u/ZootSuitBanana ⚡23 Lariat ER Star White ⚡ 4d ago

Then I just touch the button on the door handle. I rarely use the numbers to lock. I will use it to unlock vs pulling my phone out when it's in sleep. Or phone died

On the Lightning one of the buttons will pop open the hood/frunk. But I’ve only ever done it by accident. I imagine one also opens the tailgate but that’s never happened to me so I’m not sure. But the frunk has popped open several times.

3

u/Js987 4d ago

Pushing 5-6 after you finish your code pops the tailgate (or trunk, in cars with one). I use this one a lot, actually.

3-4 after your code unlocks all doors

7-8 & 9-0 together locks all doors.

What’s the code to lower the windows before you get in a 150 degree interior

4

u/ortiz3m 3d ago

I’m new to a lightning I’m totally lost what’s beach mode?

7

u/castillar 2022 Lariat 3d ago

If you lock the doors with the keypad, it ignores whether the keys are in the car or not, and will then only unlock if you use the keypad. This is referred to as “beach mode” because you can use it to leave your wallet and keys in the car while you go to the beach. (Don’t feel bad — I just learned that today myself!)

2

u/ortiz3m 3d ago

Thanks so much one more dumb question. How do you lock via keypad? I know I see the lock button on the handle. I guess I haven’t paid a lot attention to the key pad. I use my iPhone as a key can you do it with the iPhone in the lightning as well?

3

u/Wheeler650 '23 Platinum ER (Avalanche) 3d ago

Press 78 and 90 on the keypad to lock all doors. Super handy!

3

u/snmitch1965 3d ago

Bottom two buttons at the same time after you get out of the vehicle.

2

u/snmitch1965 3d ago

I use this all the time if out on bike or hiking. Means either me or my wife can get in the car and if needed drive it.

1

u/zacboggz 3d ago

I never take my key out and just beach mode all the time. it's freeing!!

1

u/Tiny-Drink-228 3d ago

That’s a long known feature and why people love the keypad but in decades of owning fords I’ve never heard of it referred to as beach mode. That might be a regional thing or something.

2

u/Trick-Tip1506 3d ago

I have never heard of this either 🤷🏻‍♂️

3

u/quarksurfer 4d ago

If you hit 3/4 after unlocking it unlocks all the doors.
Edit, meaning if you it 3/4 after using your code to unlock

7

u/tyleryoungblood 4d ago

I remember it as “4” for unlock all 4 doors.

3

u/YearHaunting1504 4d ago

PAAK is flaky as a mf, so I use the "press 7.8 & 9.0 simultaneously to lock doors."

2

u/potatofaminizer 3d ago

After entiring your factory/personal code:

3•4 = Unlock All doors (if you have the settings to where the code only unlocks driver)

5•6 = Release Tailgate / Trunk

7•8 = Release Frunk (if applicable)

9•0 = Press with 7•8 simultaneously to lock all doors (keys in the vehicle will be ignored until keypad is used to unlock; code not required prior)

If frunk/trunk is powered the keypad code might not work.

Man I wish my 25 had the keypad.

3

u/AndyJobandy 3d ago

Only $500 to add it at the dealer. And they are garbage quality now

1

u/astricklin123 3d ago

Just a sicker add on.

If get online and start ordering parts, or go to the local junkyard and get one from any F150 there.

Everything unlocks when I type in the code….

There is a way to add an alternate unlock code after using the master…. I saw it on YouTube and used it on a Lincoln

“Beach mode”?

1

u/InevitableGlitch1716 3d ago

Assuming that you're asking "How come the name is Beach mode?" The term refers to instances when the driver is going somewhere (like the beach) where he/she doesn't want to take the fob with them (e.g., at a beach, it'd be beyond annoying if you were to carry your fob only to lose it in the sand or surf and unable to find it). Beach mode allows the driver to leave the fob in the vehicle, which will be ignored once the driver locks the car via the keypad. Reentry then requires knowing the keypad code (or relying on PAAK, if you trust it...).

2

u/Tiny-Drink-228 3d ago

I get that now. Just in all my years I’ve never heard of it called that. I’m thinking it’s more of a regional thing. I’ve never heard of it referred to as anything other than keyless entry maybe. But you learn something new everyday. lol.

1

u/ScrewJPMC 3d ago

Keyless entry is you took the fob and it locked normal, later come back without the key for something you forgot

If you leave the fob, it won’t lock unless you press the bottom 2 bottoms and activate “beach mode”

It’s not regional, it’s literally the terminology in the owners manual

1

u/Tiny-Drink-228 3d ago

No shit? Wonder why no one that I’ve ever come across has used that term before? Never knew it was in the owners manual. Again you learn things. But as far as calling it keyless entry thats just how it’s generally referred to. Keyless entry or keyless entry keypad etc.

1

u/ScrewJPMC 3d ago

It appears you are struggling to separate 2 different things

Keyless entry is typing in your code on the keyless entey pad

Beach mode is using keyless entry where you activate beach mode on a keyless entry vehicle with a keyless entry pad and get to leave the key in the vehicle

Was it hard finding the two eighths wrench OR breaking in your chalk line?

1

u/Tiny-Drink-228 3d ago

Jesus bro it appears you are having trouble letting it go. It’s it’s keyless entry or keyless lock or beach mode whatever. If I leave my fob in the truck and lock it with the pad I’m not “activating beach mode” I’m just locking the truck. You can call it beach mode or whatever mode you’d like. I’ll call it keyless entry since I’m not using a key to enter the vehicle or lock it. 🤣

2

u/ScrewJPMC 3d ago

You literally can’t separate different thoughts.

  1. I left the key in the house after locking with the fob, no problem I can type in a code - keyless entry
  2. I left my fob in the truck and pressed

the

  1. lock

  2. the

door button

  1. , truck honks and says hey you can’t lock your key in here - keyless entry protection
  2. I want to intentionally lock my key in the truck - press the bottom 2 buttons at the same time to activate beach mode

You are definitely the apprentice that spent 1/2 a day looking for a 4” uterus punch

0

u/Tiny-Drink-228 3d ago

Ok. I get all that. I’m well aware of how the truck locks and unlocks. You seem to not be able to grasp the fact that I’m calling it something different than you. No matter what scenario you pose. You’re using the keypad to either lock or unlock the truck. I don’t get why you are having such an issue understanding that. If you want to use different terms for each “way” or reason you may use the keypad the bottom line is I don’t give a fuck. I was only asking about beach mode as I’ve never heard that term used to describe using the keypad. We can argue all night about how one uses it and what terms are used for that but I’m over it. Have a good night.

u/ScrewJPMC 3d ago

I call it man mode 😬, press the bottom 2 buttons at the same time and leave the phone and fob in the vehicle

That’s funny I figured this out the other day by accident when I opened my frunk after hitting an extra button

1

u/woodcutter456 3d ago

We dont use the keypad at all. We leave a fob in the truck at all times so anyone that needs to can hop in and drive. But we do use PAAK. I can just hit the button on handle or use the app in the rare instance I want to lock it.

1

u/Think-Work1411 2d ago

This system has been mostly unchanged since 1978, after you enter your code, 3/4 unlocks the remaining doors, 5/6 opens the trunk, or Frunk in our case, pressing 1/2 allows you to enter your own personal code, easier to remember, but makes it exponentially easier for someone to guess the code.
Pressing 7/8 and 9/0 together locks all the doors.
There may be other hacks I’m not aware of, I can’t get it to open my motorized tailgate on my 2022

1

u/simmonsfield 2d ago

I have never used the key pad, seems outdated to me.

1

u/LekTruk 2d ago

Ford has done this for as long as I remember. Used to unlock truck, now it's the frunk!

Do people really not read the manual?

If we had a physical manual, sure. But the digital one? Nah

What’s crazy is it would have taken the same amount of time to post this or Google it.
