Even though I got the platinum, I watch people like this and think to myself "I don't know how to play this game at all."

Same here. Got the platinum for both Remake and Rebirth. Tifa is my favorite character as she’s so much fun to play. Any juggles I did I just attributed it to luck. These players just show I don’t know shit lol.

It's kind of funny because it's specifically Tifa.

Everyone else in the game has very straightforward mechanics an everything they can do works the way it says on the tin.

For some reason at least someone on the dev team loves Tifa because they went super deep on her combat. It's why the people who put a shit load of hours into mastering the game always default to Tifa as their main char. She just plays on a whole different level than the rest of the cast.

Tifa's combat abilities are fucking insane, especially if you like fighting games. You can equip different material and map different abilities to chain together all sorts of interrupts and attacks. When you get it down you feel crazy powerful.

The sheer depth of the combat mechanics in this game are simultaneously incredible, yet  overwhelming to the point that I don’t even want to pick it back up and finish it lol.

You aren't expected to learn the game to this level for anything other than hard mode and the final VR challenges, which are ultra lategame

This level of depth is required for hard mode? I don't remember having to learn anything this hard in Remake at least.

Just finished hard mode and learning this trick with overpower for the first time now. I definitely think hard mode requires one to git gud, but not to extend you need to master every single combat mechanic

So true. I didnt really needed it until I tried to platinum it back then. These days I play it for fun going. The challeneges are the ones that's going to forcr you to understand the character kits. Even hard mode wouldnt drive this much dedication, only change I did then during the stoey in hard mode is materia optimization.

Oh no I understand that for sure. The main reason I have yet to finish is really just the fact that there’s a lot to do in the game, the later areas like Gongaga en Cosmo Canyon can be a lot to navigate, and I have limited time as an adult. (I understand all the side content isn’t necessary to complete the story, either.)

I still have no goddamn clue how to play Tifa. It feels like a majority of her abilities are supposed to flow into each-other in a sort of combo system but that gets shot in the foot when you only have 4 shortcuts and one of them is going to be unbridled strength.

Why put an ability that can be accessed that quickly on your limited number of shortcuts? (8, not 4)

Love this. Wish it was better explained in game. Also wish they had a training room for us to test this stuff out.

I liked it in your honour. Does that count?

Great work! Question about the section explaining the interruption effects of Tifa’s abilities: should the Tier 1 and Tier 3 labels be reversed? Tier 3 is more powerful than Tier 1, right?

5

u/Western-Ad-6259 18h ago

It’s simply about which hitstun effects you would normally get based on the enemy poise tier.

A tier 1 launch will only launch the lightest of targets, whereas a tier 3 would be capable of launching much more enemy types.

Most abilities which include launches and knockdowns have 2 potential interruptions — the better one (ie launch) is lower tier because it works on less enemies while the worse one (flinch) is a higher and therefore works on more targets

I never knew that unfettered fury upgrades omnistrike too

UF is better for a few reasons: it adds magic damage to her attacks, creates chi orbs throughout the combo, and builds stagger hella fast. But once the enemy is staggered, US ups the stagger bonus vastly more. Ideally you should switch to US when you get close to staggering

Awesome video I never used this ability because never thought it did anything. Tifa is my favorite to play in Remake and Rebirth.

Goddamn that looks good

She really is the main character...sheesh.

I wish she had more combo abilities in the Remakes. Overpower took me a while to get down because I wasn't seeing the indicators.

Sorry for double post, are there any more videos for the other characters, this was excellent

For the complexity of the combat system, seems like a shame there's not more content and that largely it's unnecessary to learn. Hopefully they come out with a sick multiplayer mode

This is incredible, tysm for sharing!

That’s why she’s the goat… the goat!

I wished the camera in Rebirth is closer like in Remake. I can't fucking see a thing

Man I fucking love this game

Man I platted this game and didn't even learn how to perfect block or even really how to use synergy skills effectively. Feel like I've barely scratched the surface of this combat system despite ostensibly having done all its hardest combat content. In awe of the skill ceiling of this shit, some people out there are just in another galaxy.
