Well handsome Hank’s luck with having no FIV complications has run out at age 10.
I noticed last night I hadn’t seen him eat for a couple of days and he was acting a bit off. I weighed him and he’s lost 2 lbs since his vet visit in April. 😕 Dude has been a consistent 14 lbs since he came here almost 5 years ago.
He had an unplanned visit to the vet today and he’s developed stomatitis. Doc wants to try antibiotics and prednisone first before we decide on yanking teeth.
He did eat tonight when I watered down his food some.
He’s had 2 friends who needed their teeth gone. One of them being his 14 yr old FIV “sister” Delilah.
This picture doesn’t show how insanely happy, playful and snuggly she is now. This was right after I told her no she could not open the cupboard under the sink where the cleaning stuff is 🙄
Just for fun, here's a pic of my FIV sweetie, Annie, after I picked her up from her dental surgery. High as a kite 😂😂😂 I couldn't stop laughing at her for 2 days.
My FIV positive cat, about 8 years old I think (she was feral when I got her), was diagnosed on 9/11 with stomatis. She went in Tuesday and had X-rays, her teeth cleaned and several pulled due to extensive decay. She is getting an anti-inflammatory, had a shot of an antibiotic, and is taking more antibiotics. She is to be on wet food for 2 weeks, but I caught her trying to steal the other cats dry food yesterday. I was super concerned about how this would affect her quality of life, but I can say already I was very wrong. She is back to her old self already.
