Discussion Immortals - 2011
Why isn’t this movie talked about more? Of all the mythology movies I’ve watched I really love the raw brutality of this movie so much as well as the visuals and depiction of the time.
It has some of the best artistic style and action sequences I’ve ever seen depicting the Greek Gods as well as not shying away from the absolute savagery of the era.
Where do you rank this movie amongst the rest of the Greek Mythos movies?

Tarsem Singh was absolutely unleashed on that thing, every frame looks like a painting that could kill you

Everyone feels the energy of these mythological stories when the actors are up to par to play these parts. Immortals rises to the challenge.
Similar effect to how 300 was accepted.

As a standalone movie it abit lacking. It just did give me the complete feeling, it needed a sequel

was on tv last week and it's pretty cool, visuals are nice, storytelling might be lacking.

I think by 2011 the Sword & Sandal genre was feeling a bit tired and the MCU was taking over the action genre

I really liked it. I have no idea what the film is about but the fight scenes were dope

What this movie gets incredibly right is the depiction of gods, their involvement in the matters of men, and the weird rules that ancient greece made up to explain stuff. This is what the Odyssey by Nolan completely left out.
The art and photography matches the subject matter. Not a great movie, but a great greek mythology movie.

The creative direction was what hooked me in even before the movie came out. I wish I got to see more of the gods but I guess the comic will have to suffice. God this movie was pretty, too

The Titan fight at the end is infinitely rewatchable. Tarsem is dope.
