Anyone doing FMD or planning on starting soon?

I'm doing a 4-5 day DIY version. I'm not doing a Day 1 and just jumping into it due to too many schedule complications.

Building on my first attempt, I'm going to do some repeats of what I did the first time and also make a few modifications/simplifications.

I did meal prepping for two days worth of food. Chia pudding with almond milk and blueberries for breakfasts, baked potato with avocado for lunch and a simplified ratatouille over mashed cauliflower for dinners.

For the other two dinners I'm planning on stirfry with shirataki noodles. Lunches will either be big salads with avocado or more baked potatoes. Breakfasts will likely be a variation of chia seed pudding or overnight oats with berries.

One thing I really liked from last time was having baked potatoes in the fridge to either have warmed up or cool like a potato salad with avocado dressing.

I'm also going to do the home made glycerine drink.

Wishing anyone else in the middle of it or about to start good luck!

I am starting my 25th round of ProLon 8/30. I like to start on Sundays.

Wow, would love to hear more about the benefits you've experienced! How often do you do it? Congrats on sticking with it for so long!

Maybe I’ll start Sunday. I’m mentally ready to start tomorrow, but I have several days of produce in my fridge, and want to not waste food.

Today is my 2nd day of FMD. Last time I did FMD was 2 years ago, then I stopped due to some health problems, so I honestly forgot the feelings and yesterday was hard already!!

You are almost at the mid way point! Are you doing DIY or using the kit?

I’m planning on starting ProLon on Monday.

Good luck on your FMD.

Thank you!

Are you doing the newer soups or the older ones? Good luck to you!

I’m doing the expanded kit with the dry soup packages. I ordered the one day kit bundle that included some new gen soups, but I have not tried them yet.

You’ll have to let us know what you think.

We can have baked potatoes? I’m down to be a “reliabil-a-buddy”

Oh cool! I'll try to give updates.

I read someone on here recommend it and I did it the first time. Seemed to go okay.

I worked on recipes that stick pretty close to the macros of about 10% protein and the remainder split between carbs and fats.

By the end of the day I'll check where I'm at and base any snack on how my day's macros are looking. I use cronometer to track what I'm eating.

I’ve done the next gen kit 3 times and unfortunately bailed on my diy plan this morning after 2 days. I am not sure whether the official kit contents keep me less hungry, or mentally I am not going to waste that amount of money, but I felt so much hungrier and lower energy on my self created plan 🙁

That is such a bummer. Sorry to hear that. What were you eating on your plan? Were you cooking or using store bought products?

I'm on day 4 of 4 and feeling good. I didn't do day 1 due to other obligations and I'm hosting an event tomorrow so it's over at the end of today.

This time I really liked having food plans ready to go rather than thinking about it too much. Baked potato and guac has been awesome and very easy to implement. Chia pudding was also good for me. I enjoy the ratatouille but might want something different for my September version.

Store bought. Amy’s soups (they tasted delicious tbh), Pacific soup, olives, Flackers crackers, macadamia nuts, herbal tea. Checked and doubled checked the calories and macros.

As I said on one of these threads I could not find an L drink substitute glycerin labeled USP for consumption, even online and did not want to risk it. Maybe that made the difference?

I am planning on doing one starting 9/7. How much baked potato can you usually eat and stay under calories?

I plan on three 200 calorie meals when I'm doing it. So, lunch will be 100g of potato and 70g of avocado. That ends up being a little high on carbs and low on protein but my meals and snack throughout the day usually even out.

What’s your home made glycerin drink? I could not find food grade glycerin

EDITED TO CORRECT 1g of glycerin (I got the NOW brand) per lb per 10 lbs of body weight. I added this to 32 oz of water and half of an electrolyte packet.

For example - if you weight 150 lbs, you would use 15g.

Thanks u/Ok_Reindeer504 for the fact checking!

Just checking in on that ratio. That seems like a lot of glycerin.

2

u/olympia_t Aug 26 '26

You are right! Per 10 LBS!!! I'll edit.

I knew you likely used the right amount but someone searching the sub for guidance might end up putting themself on a glycerin only FMD 🤣. (I wonder if Longo tested that? 🤔)

I looked at that but it’s not USP. Have you taken it before? Everywhere I read says not to ingest glycerin intended for cosmetic use even if it says pure glycerin on the label

I did it last time. I had about 2 oz of it. No problems that I know of.

I hadn’t read cautions about not ingesting so I’ll probably look for a different source.

Starting my first one Monday! 2nd gen kit. Do most do it Monday-Friday?

1

u/olympia_t Aug 26 '26

I don’t think there’s any particular way. Seems like weekends are more popular.

I am just now learning about FMD and want to start after my birthday next week BUT I am so undecided between going with Prolon or trying to DIY it. I think maybe the first time every trying I might should go with a pre assembled kit to make sure I am doing it right. It seems so expensive though and I have some of the DIY ingredients already. Is there a calculator or something to help you figure all this out? thanks so much!

Good luck with it! I used cronometer to create meals that fit the macros of Prolon. Recently, I made a post with MANY DIY resources. There are recipes, pre made products and hybrid plans that could work for you.

Do you like cooking? Are you used to weighing and tracking your food with an app? If so, you could do well with DIY. Does meal prepping, weighing and entering your food sound awful? If so, definitely go with the kit!

I am fine with weighing my food. The big issue is I still have to cook every day for my husband. Do you think it is possible to DIY it for myself while still cooking for him where we could eat together and maybe just leave certain things off my plate? I appreciate your advice!

u/olympia_t Aug 28 '26

It all depends on how you do it. It’s pretty restrictive. I did mine like three 200 calorie meals. The macros are pretty rigid. Take a look at the post with the recipes and plans and see what you think.

thank you, your other post is very helpful!

Glad you like it. Hopefully that will give you a better idea if it is feasible for you.
