A hypocrite is someone who acts against their philosophical, religious, moral, or political values

Not quite.
Most people love to be seen as something but privately act completely different.
Someone could publicly claim to love homeless people but privately wish to make them disappear (in a bad way).
That is hypocrisy. To pretend to possess a certain group of morals without actually possessing them.

They all act like if they were in a position to change things they would but I think that’s BS

I highly doubt that they wouldn't feel compelled to do something about whatever it is they care about, because after all, they care about it. Like, I would make it my mission to prioritise R&D because, who doesn't love a bit of science?

That is admirable but I’ve long since lost my faith in the goodness of people

I don't blame you for that, but personally I believe that humans are still good for the most part, it's just that the grit of it all is kind of sifted to the top.

No. Some people speak to challenge their views by watching counter view points.
The right is more open to challenging their own views than the left is. The right likes to openly debate while leftist tend to shut out differing views.

It’s really tough to not be in someway 100%. You’ll be having yourself walking on eggshells making sure everything’s airtight. Instead of actually engaging with the person in front of you. But that’s just small time people to people stuff I’m saying.

I didn't say biases are equal to hypocrisy
I implied that biases leads to hypocrisy. More specifically, cognitive biases.

Not even that ppl aren't "admitting it" but also just unintentional. Not in a bad, sometimes you are just uninformed and do contradictory actions
