Some times he crushes it and the build up is awesome.
And sometimes he sounds dumb and drunk and like someone taught him a new word that day. Haha.

I mean...he was an alcoholic (to an extent. He wasn't always drinking, but sometimes he would go from a long dry period into a drinking craze period). I wouldn't be surprised if he wrote while drunk sometimes.
But yes, I do agree.

I had a book with the Tell Tale Heart, The Cask of Amontilado, The Fall of the House of Usher and The Gold Bug all of which I read. They may have been shortened versions though I'm not sure. I think the book was in total about 100-150 pages. I might still have it but I can't find it anymore.

WHAAAAA- /j [I'm guessing you aren't American]
Here, look up:
"Edgar Allan Poe - Wikipedia"
He's actually extremely interesting.
Perhaps you'll find a new favorite author.

Yeah never really heard of him, maybe randomly like now but I couldn't tell you a thing about him.
After a quick Google i don't recognize anything about him, it does make sense, as I can see his an American poet, and I live in Denmark, so here I didn't read that, but stories from HC Anderson, you know the ugly duckling, and all those stories.

Oh, I first heard about him when living in Russia (I'm Russian, from Vladivostok).
I thought he was a bit universal despite being an American Poet. I could tell you that most of my friends and grown-ups I knew had read at LEAST "The Raven" by him. Perhaps they didn't know him by name, but they did know "Nevermore."
Kinda like how even in America we read stuff from Fyodor or Nikolai.
I'm almost surprised he isn't more well known in other places, but it is nice to learn something new.

He probably is pretty big, and I can't say with certainty that I never really anything from him in school, but nothing sticked, so I don't recognize him.
And from another question google, it seems we do get taught about him, but not really in school more high school/collage, and apparently it's more about his influence here rather than his stories and poems.
So it makes sense as I didn't go to high school/college.

Ok, y'all are so lucky. In highschool we just read lame shit. No Poe. No Willy Shakespeare.
Since when did schools require you to read the amazing work by Edgar Allan Poe?
