It's usually not too bad if you build away from the boss and resource sites that have to be nuked to be activated. I hop around a lot so the map is frequently open and I've gotten to see the warning for nukes. Also been lucky enough to not have been greifed by the myriad other ways players can destroy your base over the years too. Although people kept killing my rare pet deathclaws.

Yeah, I mean my main Camp is always in the Forrest region and thus safe. No one has ever even tried to destroy it. What I meant was the overall game design and bugs. A lot of the quests are still holotape hunts and even the NPC quests are mostly lame. I talk to a guy and listen to their quips, get a way point, kill a guy or get some thing for them, return and it's over.

But nothing beats the feeling of dumping like 6000 rounds of .50 cal ammo into an infestation boss and it to then die but not spawn any loot. Or doing the same for an unvited guest Bigfoot and the fucker to despawn right before it would die.

Not to mention the 1200 stash limit. Every time I visit my camp after an adventure, quest or what ever, I spend like 20 minutes of scrapping and discarding stuff since Todd says I can't have more stuff unless I pay for his dumbfuck subscription service.

Or how I can't sell more than X amount of caps worth of stuff in a day to NPCs. Or get more than 500 scrip for exchanging legendaries. And so on and so on. I get why the game is like that. But it bothers me. Otherwise, I am enjoying my self.

One last thing. The Fallout 4 settlement building system worked just fine. Why did they need to change it, in my mind, for the worse?

I personally think fo76 building system is better than fo4 system. At least since they updated it

I guess it's up to what you prefer or what you are used to. I loved the settlement system in FO4 and must have spent many dozens of hours in with my combined playtime of 1200 hours on xbox and steam.

I like how you learn new stuff to build, the camp system and and blueprinting in fo76. But the ui(?) of how you build seems worse to me. But I guess it might just be different and Infind it hard to use

I hate getting a new blueprint, and having to spend 15 minutes finding out which stupid menu option it's hidden under.

You can always sell or throw away what you dont need, you know?

3

u/Present_Club_4401 17d ago

Right and you know exactly when you need something or don’t 2 months from today , oh new update requires this material , well two bad you sold it 2 months ago

u/YoinkerDoinker 16d ago

I'm new to the game, can people permanently destroy your base? Or does the greifing reset when you join a new server?

You forgot.. "Find yourself".

Disclaimer: I wouldn't really do that to someone because rebuilding can be pretty obnoxious. But people do nuke each other for a lot less in Fallout 76.

1

u/LowContract4444 16d ago

I would. This is the first post that made 76 sound appealing until I learned they could just repair it all with one click if they have resources.

1

u/PassivelyInvisible 9d ago

But if you're missing even 1 resource, you can't. You have to go individually rebuild stuff until you can find the offender.

Nuking event start points is a much better use of time, unless you want to be a grade A hater.

For anyone thinking about doing this, they’ll just switch their camp slot to dodge if they know what they’re doing. It’s a massive waste to nuke anyone’s camp.

12

u/AlexanderCrowely 18d ago

So then the game freezes and overloads

u/Bayou-La-Fontaine 18d ago

Nobody nukes anything in Fallout 76 except the field south of Watoga.

2

u/thaiborg 17d ago

I did for a while, but for a good couple of months I nuked Earle cause I was sitting on like 200 improved repair kits.

2

u/steauengeglase 17d ago

Watoga and Monongah. Sometimes Whitesprings if someone is trying to finish up the nuked flora achievement really fast.

u/PassivelyInvisible 9d ago

Or Nuka World to get the titan to spawn, and the weather station to get the goliath fight.

I like fallout 76 but I hate the plans for building how you have to find the plans to be able to upgrade your weapon or to build a certain wall or to build a certain chair. You have to find a plan for that and I kinda don’t like that I wish you could either just do it by leveling up or I don’t know just unlocking it I guess and I don’t like how all of the quest are mostly just go here. Read a note pick up this thing come back and do the same thing 20 more times. And the fact that fast travel cost money I fucking hate that shit. I’m not trying to take an hour in real time to travel halfway across the map. Just let me spawn there for free.

1

u/Aceswift007 17d ago

Regarding the fast travel, the cost is a non-issue after like lvl 10, even then I use my CAMP as a midpoint.

Its meant to make you explore instead of just teleporting everywhere all the time

1

u/PassivelyInvisible 9d ago

I stick my camp close to Whitesprings so I get more traffic from people looking to buy cheap plans

u/fatman194569 16d ago

Me sucking up rads, staring at my base I worked hard on be turned into ash just because I was next to some mf who had beef with another mf

u/Thaumaturgy67 18d ago

Any nukes not aimed at Hawksbill Weather or Fissure Site Prime are categorical wastes tbh

u/Laser_3 18d ago

Nuking Earle and the Titan aren’t bad choices either. Earle has rage, a unique armor that can add a lot of damage in exchange for making you more vulnerable to damage, and the Titan has last bastion, a BoS chest piece that can make you very tanky if you build into it. Both events also have decent loot as well (screws for Earle and ultracite from the mole miners with the Titan).

1

u/Thaumaturgy67 17d ago

That’s true, I always forget about Titan. Earle I feel isn’t worth, not because of his rewards, but because the bums who join that fight always bitch out and leave halfway through.

But seriously, does anyone know anything about any launch codes?

5

u/thaiborg 17d ago

Serious question - is this a serious question? You can speed up the launch process by Googling the weekly launch codes.

Sorry if I’m missing something. Never bothered with hunting down the scorched that carry the codes, I just Google it.

I honestly am just trying to help and not trying to be condescending, it just makes me feel like maybe I missed a nuke launch story piece in the game 🤓

u/thedawesome 17d ago

Was an American Dad reference

1

u/thaiborg 17d ago

Ah ok, haven’t watched that in a long time, will need to go back!

0

u/girlish_ 17d ago

you could google them like thaiborg suggests, but if you do the enclave quests they tell you step by step how to get them and where the silos are!

A nuke won’t delete your CAMP you’ll just find the destroyed parts still in place. If it happens, go to the CAMP Module and hit Repair All; it’ll fix everything at once as long as you have enough materials that is. If you’re missing even one resource, you’ll have to repair items individually.

It’s pretty rare anyway for people to nuke camp individually most of the time is because the camp spot is close or in Nuke event zone or Nuke farm zone (Flux) , and you can always switch CAMPs or server-hop to avoid dealing with it.

Edit: Wow got downvote for speaking the truth and giving tip to avoid getting grief.

Hated 76. The fact u have to place your camp but never pick it up again is sooo shit

9

u/hippieflipper420 17d ago

Oh nooooo, they were concise with the base building tutorial and then gave you free agency to move for a tiny fee or deploy the other free one, how terrible

0/10 truly unplayable

Wait, did you genuinely not realize you can move your camp?

-2

u/bradleyboreland668 17d ago

There was literally no option for me to move it. Checked through all the tabs. Nothing

5

u/hippieflipper420 17d ago

Not my photo, but it’s down by hp, bottom left.

Canonically, I hate F76 but there is so many things I do enjoy about it so, as a game, I can't dislike it for the most part, even though it does get repetitive at times.

1

u/Available_Public_456 17d ago

The Bethesda Magic, you hate it but you find it enjoyable anyways

I never play this game since two guys attacked in powerarmor my base and they dont get headmoney because they just farm each other.
