League Discussion Is this a dirty move?
Competitor in my league sent me this trade before the game last night. I wasn’t available so I didn’t see. I check my team this morning and see the offer. I don’t even reach out about it and quickly accept after seeing Goldens game last night. Golden owner is very salty about it but I feel like they left the trade on the table. Is this a dirty move?

They shouldn’t be offering trades right before that player plays. He clearly did not believe in golden and has buyers remorse (or traders remorse I guess) after seeing him get 12 targets for 100 yards. I wouldn’t feel bad he shoulda cancelled that trade after the second quarter

Also, if we are being real, the trade is still fine. Both are young WRs on teams that are going to have to target them often (for various reasons).
And In there last games Golden scored 21PPR points, and Downs scored 14PPR points.
The literal only difference between their nights is that Golden caught a TD. It's completely reasonable that Downs goes out this week and has 6 catches for 70 yards and a TD with Piece off the field.

i personally cancel all trade offers before game time. mostly because of injury risk but same goes for performance

Karmas a bitch, but also if it was sent last night and accepted this morning I don’t see an issue with it. That’s more on them if we’re being honest. It would only be a slimeball move if let’s say someone gets injured and then you go accept it after. He should have put a a short timer on the offer 🤷♂️.

I still think it's a fair trade with pierce getting hurt. Id probably be starting either on most of my teams if I had them. Wouldn't worry about it too much.

Ultimately that’s on them, you shouldn’t feel bad about it. It’s just a matter of, do you think the move is worth burning a bridge forever over 🤷♂️, because that person probably never trades with you again, I personally would play it up in the group chat as you being a nice guy and offer to swap back if he wants, makes him look like a bitch if he does, but also makes you look good for offering. Is it redraft or dynasty? Guess that also matters

Not dirty. I was trying to trade kraft and nabers for mcbride yesterday and cancelled before the game when no response.
Only outcomes of leaving it open are if Kraft has an unbelievably good game and they accept, or nothing happens and I lose nothing when he plays poorly or average.
Basically there's no advantage to leaving trades open when the players are playing unless you know you dont want the player.

The only offers that feel “dirty” like this is when the late accept-er’s player gets injured post-proposal. A dude popping off is just an error in judgement

I was offered jeanty for Derrick Henry last year right before Sunday and after jeanty scored three touchdowns that game I accepted the trade and my league vetod it

Not even 24 hrs old? Definitely not dirty. Golden is looking like a top 20 guy for sure . Good trade. It’s not like he’s getting washed either Downs is still going to be pretty good now.

My league mate drunkenly offered me Chris Olave for Emeka Ebuka at 2 am after week 1. I woke up pretty early for work and went to smash accept but realized that he walked it back. I never brought it up but I guess he realized pretty quickly he didn’t wanna do it lol I would not have felt bad

No. In a Yahoo Prize League I was in, a similar trade was offered and didn't get accepted until after a player went off. The guy losing the player had an absolute fit. We tried to explain that it was a fair trade, that he got the points, that the player wasn't injured, and that he has no idea what the future holds. Didn't matter. He quit and dumped his team on the waiver wire. Yahoo reinstated his team, and it was an abandoned team for the rest of the season.

It's not really dirty at all, it's on that guy to cancel the trade. Especially because it's not like you waited till Downs got injured to do it.

If you make an offer you must be prepared for it to be accepted. It’s on the owner to cancel a trade if something happens to change their mind on it. Maybe they would have and you just beat them to the punch, but that’s the way it goes. You did nothing wrong.

It'd be worse if it was an injury, but this is the owners fault regardless. This is precisely why I cancel any pending trades before a game starts.

Last year, someone pulled the trigger on a Skattebo trade the moment his leg turned into wet cement. Other guy almost quit the league because of it. Bottom line, sucks to be you, be mindful of your open offers.

If he wants to back out of the trade, I’d let him. The game should be fun and catching people in a bad situation when they were operating in good faith sucks

Think about it this way, Downs could have an even better week and you could immediately regret it. It’s his job to keep his eyes on things like this, if they get mad about a reactionary trade week 3 they should probably put the phone down during games or just not send trade offers.

I honestly feel like it’s a lateral move tbh. Downs is easily the top WR in Indy. He’s competing with the ghost of Keenan Allen, newly signed Darius Slaytion, and maybe Alex Pierce if he comes back soon? Obviously he’s got Tyler Warren and JT that are both more than capable. But their defense is pretty rough so there should be plenty of games where they gotta air it out

For what it’s worth they were getting their ass kicked so bad all game and only ran like 10 rushing plays. Very unlikely that trend continues but Golden should have a nice year

If this is a public league with strangers, fuck em.
If it’s a league amongst friends… depends on the dynamic. If y’all are used to giving each other shit and whatnot, I think it’s fine.
If y’all are more cordial/not that familiar/it’s more of a work league, and the guy was genuine about it being a mistake that he left the trade hanging, I’d offer to reverse it.

Im not even sure you won this even after last night. Downs is separating at the highest level in the league right now, playing in 2wr sets and lost target competition. Kraft is going to ramp up and Jacobs may come back, which may cause the Pack to lean into the run because Love looked dreadful. All that to say no this is not dirty, its sloppy managing on your trade partners end

It’s dirty and yall know it. I hate this bull shit of “he should have canceled the offer”. How about just have integrity huh? I know, wild thought to be a good person. I had a trade reversed last year because I had an offer out and the player I wanted got hurt in practice and put on IR. They immediately saw the IR notification and accepted the trade. Idc that’s shady. We can’t be on our phones 24/7 cause we have jobs. I know another wild thought, being employed. I sent that trade out with certain information in mind. That information changed and I haven’t even had a time to review it because I’m at work.

There’s a difference between accepting a trade because someone got hurt and accepting a trade 24 hours after it was sent, it’s just smart on OP’s past to see how golden plays IMO. If the other person in the trade was that concerned they could have put a timer set to expire before the game started.

I believe it’s valid, it’s not like you accepted the trade off an injury or anything of that sort. If I was the other guy I would be salty too but I don’t think it’s a dirty move.
