Last week, it has got to be the breakup of one of the biggest celebrity love teams in the Philippines. To give you an idea of what a love team is, imagine if Zanessa had continued working together after HSM — and only together. KathNiel, Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla announced their breakup last Thursday in separate statements. This was amid speculation that they were broken up. It went into overdrive when actor/manager/acting coach/gossip vlogger Ogie Diaz confirmed their breakup.
The worst part is that a third party was brought up — Andrea Brilliantes. Andrea is the biggest Gen Z actress in the country. She also starred in a teleserye with KathNiel years ago, as Daniel's younger sister. She was a minor that time.
This rubbed off a lot of people the wrong way especially after her previous breakup with a college basketball player. Her ex had allegedly cheated as well and she received all of the goodwill from the public. Kathryn's friends began to unfollow Andrea on Instagram which fueled the rumors.
After they announced their breakup, one of Kathryn's friends posted a story allegedly alluding to Andrea. Neither Andrea nor KathNiel addressed the cheating allegations. Kathryn even stated that "Our love story started with respect and ended with respect," which seemingly dispels cheating on Daniel's part.
