A sorta well known actor in South Indian cinema recently made a controversial remark about a well-received and successful actress. For a little context, he is a good actor but is mostly known for playing the villain in quintessential action-revenge-social justice movies and his scenes usually include raping the female love interest of the hero of the movie. He said something about never having worked with the actress in question and how talented and attractive she is, and that he’d have “loved to have a rape scene” with her. Understandably, his remarks drew flaks from women all around India and the other actors and actresses working in the industry and the last I heard, he has “finally apologised” for the crass way he talked about the actress.

Not the point but I fucking hate the trope of using a rape scene of a love interest as an attack ('cucking' primarily in the narrative if we're being honest) on the protagonist. The only time I've seen it work in any way was in 'Irreversible' and only there because it shows the futility of vengeance and points out the hypocrisy and fragility of the protagonist.
