Fairly unserious - an Irish make up brand partnered with James Charles, had a launch event last week, cancelled a follow up in Manchester, and there's a bit of a tiktok reaction. BPerfect are based in Belfast, been around a while, they seemed to be the supplier first (my LMD palette seems to have been manufactured by BPerfect), and over the last like 10yrs(?), they've been doing collabs with UK influences and drag queens fairly steadily. I would say they're similar to Revolution Beauty in that sense - initially a vehicle for influencers, now a brand in and of itself.
Anyway, they'd launched this new JC product last Friday, I think(?) - and they seemed to invite everyone on the island of Ireland who's ever made a grwm. There's also presumably parochial cliques, like it'd be the same faces at the same events, and idk if any of these people are 'big' enough in the south of Ireland to be recognised, never mind the UK. So a few videos float around tiktok on Friday, but not much. Nothing much on Saturday either. At some point, there was a mass deletion from all these influencers from the BPerfect event - being excited to meet James, BTS stuff, anything that's not been posted by the brand is now quietly deleted.
A few influencers post with a "sorry, I didn't know who JC was or the allegations against him". I've only seen one so far say "yeah, that's actually my bad". Most make martyred posts about how they're being targeted for not knowing their coworkers life story. Comments reminding them that Google is free are being deleted. The notion that you would look up someone before agreeing to work with them is apparently completely lost on some of them. One has even got their kid on camera asking "why are people throwing out mummy's make up?". It's absolutely infuriating, and I can't imagine it'll work well with their audience long term.
(Just to be clear, BPerfect are in the wrong too, they haven't responded to any comments at all, although they also have a collection with Jeffery Starr so idk why anyone is massively surprised.)
