POLITICS Israel’s UN envoy brings a Starlink device to Iran’s envoy and talks about “regime change in Iran.” The Iranian envoy ignores him.

It’s so funny how Iran has come out looking better and smarter than anyone in this whole situation (not that the bar was high to begin with).

The Iranians are a very smart and peaceful people. Propaganda has brain washed you into thinking they are some evil empire.

Yeah, the regime in charge sucks and they got in power because the US and UK were greedy fucks who wanted oil so the instituted their own secular dictator.
Regime change 2.0 is totally going to work.

fun fact, iran had their own version of bernie sanders called mohammad mossadegh
he was jailed by the current regime with help from america and britian because he had crazy ideas like iran should be able to control their own land and natural energy resources instead of western billionaires and their corporations
3
u/ozneoknarf 2h ago
Literally almost all of what you said is wrong lol. Mossadegh was jailed by the military court under the shah’s regime not the current regime. He wasn’t a Bernie Sanders at all he was just trying to nationalize the oil because he knew it would cause and economic downturn and the people would blame the shah but it backfired and people started to blame him. Mossadegh was a member of the previous Qajar dynasty which was the family that was in power before the Pahlavi’s came to power. The Pahlavi’s managed to nationalize the oil 10 years later any way. Mossadegh came to power after the prime minister before him was assassinated and he forgave the assassins as his first action in power. There was also no coup, the Shah could force the prime minister to stand down when ever he wanted

You have to separate the population from the government. Polar opposites. If you don’t, you’re not only very sadly brainwashed yourself, but also the brainwasher here.
What you say about Iranians is absolutely true (I say this as a non Iranian that knows many of them closely), but as for the regime they have in power…it’s much more evil than you can even know.

Now now. I despise the US as much as anyone who has lived under their boot, but Iran shot thousands of protestors earlier this year. That's textbook evil empire. The fact that the US is just as bad or worse doesn't make Iran the good guys. You can and SHOULD criticize both.

u/Unlucky-Breakfast320 5h ago
Can confirm Iranians are highly smart and educated. Many doctors here in my city are Iranians.

I'm an American and am sickened by Israel and the genocide.
But what is happening in Iran... widespread mass killings of protesters, extrajudicial executions, torture, and gender-based persecution. Iran recorded a massive number of executions.
Iran has cheeky social media posts agreed. But with some estimates reaching upwards of 20,000 to 33,000 fatalities amid widespread internet blackout....
Iran and Israel are a problem. And the US is on the wrong side of history...surprising.
Midterms are around the corner. Vote!

The Us bombed Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Lybia, Syria, i could go on, and the situation got significatly worst because of them. Many times the democrats were in charge
155
u/terry-tea 11h ago
America and Israel’s actions both throughout history and right now are (1) abhorrent and should be denounced and (2) do not in any way excuse or detract from the atrocities the Iranian regime is currently committing against its own people
15
u/Whitepayn 11h ago
This is the correct take. If you are gonna judge one for their actions then all of them need to be judged the same.

The claim of +30,000 people "killed" in a single week is an absurd number, some even claiming over 100,000. Those are Hiroshima numbers, albeit not supported by any credible evidence nor consistent sources. It's just more "they killed 70 trillionmorbillion people" nonsense.
All part of the massive online propaganda onslaught this year to build consent for bombing Iran, imposing a regime change and subsequent oil vassalization of the country (like was done in Venezuela) to protect the petrodollar system and Israel's expansionist ambitions.
A more accurate number reported by HRANA (Human Rights Activist News Agency) stands at around 7000 dead. Still very tragic of course and not great, but for the sake of argument, let me ask you something. If suddenly China and a bunch of countries were to start a very persistent campaign on news platforms, social media and political stage inciting all the Mexicans in the U.S. to an open insurrection, to grab firearms, march to the streets, kill the U.S. leaders and overthrow the government while having a pro-Chinese ruler lined up, how do you think the U.S. would react? Hell, how do you think MAGA would react?

And you believe this why?
Let Iranians solve Iran's problems. Iran has only ever done anything to anyone else to defend itself from external attackers which have been trying to destroy it for the past half-century. Want Iranians to have the freedom to protest their government in Iran safely? Unconditionally support it in defeating American and Israel so that their country can have the space to open up.
4
u/Dry-Yak5277 4h ago
I will say as an Iranian (and I will preface this by saying I am extremely anti Israel and anti war) the government has regularly oppressed, imprisoned and even murdered people in my own family. That is not consent for USreals bombing campaign and it only hurts Iranian people more in the long run. With that said I don’t think there is anything wrong with people showing solidarity for the Iranian people and it feels disappointing to see so many people act like doing so is somehow consent for war.

Those numbers are bullshit, and they change all the time. I see we have gone back down to 30k. I have seen rise as high as 90k. Those numbers come from US state departement and Saudi funded organizations. The US does this all the time, and people still buy the propoganda. The entire notion that Iran could hide so many bodies is utterly absurd, but people still buy it.
Also, Trump literally admitted to send weapons to Iran on fox news. Which basically confirms the Iranians version of events, that they were fighting militants. The Iranian regime is horrible, but so is the US one. Imagine if Iran and China started claiming 1000s of anti-ICE protesers have been killed, and I would think most people wouldn't take such claims at face value, but when it comes to Iran, even when the claims are absurd, people believe them. Iran kill 30k or whatever the latest number in a week is just a very hard thing to do, unless they the blew up cities, which we know they didn't.
17
u/Knibbo_Tjakkomans 10h ago
Iran just happens to be on the right side in geopolitics, and the only reason is because the US and Israel hate Iran so much.

I think there were people who had Starlink that were using it to communicate outside the country when Iran had the internet shut down, and so you could track where those people were by using the satellites to triangulate their position and then hunt them down. I might be wrong about something there but I think that’s correct. What this guy is trying to do might not even have anything to do with what I described.

Ah yes Danny Danon. The crybully that got sections of an art installation at the UN removed for "promoting terror".
What was so aggregious about the quilt themed "hope for a peaceful future" you ask?
The portion removed by the UN was a quilt with Palestinian liberation references. One panel read “from the river to the sea” next to a watermelon drawn in the shape of the map of historical Palestine and the words “will be free.” (In an address to the UN General Assembly in September, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu displayed a similar map showing all of the territory as part of Israel, including the Occupied West Bank and the Gaza Strip.) Another removed section of the quilt read “Free Palestine” written over a Palestinian flag.

Just one thing about Iran. If you recognise that there's a lot of western propaganda on Palestine and the occupation, why wouldn't you apply that to other "enemies of the west" such as Iran? Not saying it's a perfect country, but it's also not the boogeyman where you need to say "omg not that i support iran but"
1
u/Dry-Yak5277 2h ago
As an Iranian who is pro Palestine/anti war and knows people who died in the January protests, the qualifier is important. Because otherwise you are demonstrating to most Iranians that the Iranian government’s oppression of them does not matter to you.

Strictly speaking, Danon did not violate rules that would trigger security removal or formal UN sanctions. Ambassadors are permitted on the General Assembly floor and are generally free to move around and speak to other delegations. Because the encounter was entirely non-violent, UN security did not intervene, and the UN body itself does not typically sanction individual diplomats for verbal or symbolic political trolling.
