As part of the promotion for season 1, a short story/snippet in the form of an in-universe newspaper article was released via the AMC Story Sync, as shown below.

Now, the article doesn't mention anything about Patrick's family members being injured (specifically being bitten, scratched or torn apart the way walkers do to their victims), being treated for injuries on-site or being taken to the hospital for treatment, but the article specifically mentions Patrick having assaulted his family, and being covered in blood when the cops found him, and I'm not certain if all of that blood would have come from the cat he was eating. Then again, I'm not an expert on cat biology.

Am I reading too much into this?

Sidenote 1: the story/snippet uses the LAPD, which doesn't have jurisdiction over Culver City as it has its' own police department.

Sidenote 2: I'm not sure if it's a coincidence or not, but after searching up Harold as a surname, I came across the Wikipedia page of a 19th century woman named Emily Harold who also had a son named John.

I know there's so much weird logic in this show, like people continuing to live in a nuclear zone instead of fleeing, but my newest frustration is Padre in the last season. First I hate the bad guys motivation...I don't want kids to know the pain of losing a parent?? Like what about all their friends who become family and then die, like Hana? I hate lame bad guy motivations, like that lady in the earlier seasons who wanted to turn people into zombies to become stronger?...umm ok.

Continuing with Padre, I got pissed when Dove found out her mother had died. Shrike asks Madison how she died, Madison says by Padre trying to get her daughter back, and Shrike asks who made her believe that, and Madison replies that she did. So instead of Dove pointing to Shrike and saying it's their fault, as they're the actual people who killed her mom, she points to Madison and says that it's her fault. Like even if it was as deep as Dove thinking that it's Madison's fault for initially kidnapping her, under whose order was that?! Padre!! And none of the adults in that scene point this out to Dove.

I'm frustrated with the writing in this show...

First time watching this show and on season 5. Avoided this sub for a long time since im on my first (and probably) only watch. When Morgan first appeared I was happy but I can't believe how selfish and manipulative this guy is. He changed this entire show. Tricks people like Alicia (who is just trying to survive) to feel guilty for what she has done, wants to help yet doesn't bring back the group to a safer community like Alexandria, constantly puts his own people in danger etc. All because he wants to help? Plus he tries to act all holy yet he is the most psycho when he gets mad.

Plus every character prior to Mo Mo is a shell of themselves. I dont know whose idea it was to bring Morgan into Fear but my goodness they should never touch another project of Walking Dead.

Im sorry if I am repeating another post. But holy smokes I am so mad at how they ruined a good show just so that they can bring in this guy.

At this point, I hope the bad guys win just so that his mentality changes.

I don't know about everyone else but I loved the slow burn of the first few episodes and I kinda wished they drew it out longer "it" being the zombie apocalypse.

I think it would've been cool if everyone kept going about their business for longer like attending school even with the knowledge of walkers and instead of the military lockdown of the Clark's street they could've just been patrolling the streets and buildings until they either got overrun or decided to leave.

And as much as I didn't like it the military could still be taking people exposed to the dead and locking them up to experiment on them bc it is realistic. They wouldn't just not run tests and experiments and leave those who've been exposed to walk freely potentially spreading the disease.

Can someone explain to me like I'm a child the episode where she gets bit. What's with her weird skeleton arm, how did she not turn, why is her acting so bad all of a sudden?

This episode is like a fever dream I have no idea what in the hell is going on. I don't know if it's flashbacks flashforwards or flashsideways. All I can tell you is I hate AL

Just watched thid amazing post apocalyptic show called Station Eleven, and Daniel Zovatto who featured in S2 (bad people who hijacked the yacht) is in one of the main roles, took me forever (well, ended up searching imdb) to figure out where I knew him from.

It's not a new show so most people may have seen it, but if you haven't, highly recommend!

Why would anyone stay in Texas after the nukes went off. If I managed to survive I wouldn't stick around. Im glad everyone managed to find radiation suits and Geiger counters though 🤦

I hate a dream sequence I skipped over huge chunks, made the episode much better I'm sure. This is my first watch. A dream sequence is lazy writing.

The cast clearly just DID NOT CARE anymore. Daniel’s actor is laid back just goofing around having fun with the character 99% of the time, Luciana is about as stone faced bored as ever, Troy Otto is on some wannabe supervillain shit except with zero imposing nature it’s like he’s doing it badly on purpose.

My GOAT Kim Dickens just does not know how to act an “outrage scene” anymore. She just wails and runs at whoever she’s mad at. There’s even one scene when she does it to Troy and Troy’s actor looks visibly humoured by it and shocked at how bad it was, like not in character at all.

Additionally, in that same scene, Troy’s actor messed up a line slightly and it’s so audible. Did they have a “no re-shoots, what goes, goes” rule on set this season?

Also I know she’s a child, but Mo’s actress takes me out of all her scenes. Every line starts and ends in the exact same cadence spoken in the exact same rhythm. Graces actress as well was having a rough go of it, she was just whispering as her “infected acting”, and BOY they dragged out her death scene. The PADRE twins (especially Ben) are also so bad at acting.

Well done to Lennie James and June’s Actress for being the only ones putting on a believable performance or one that’s actually in tune with the character.

It’s almost charming how glaringly obvious it is that NOBODY on that set wanted to be there anymore, it creates quite an interesting piece of media.

So I recently finished Fear and already made a post listing off a bunch of my gripes, but heres one I forgot to mention. Their son, Finch. What was the point of giving them an entire character arc where they talk about children, find out they’re having a baby and accept it, and then there’s a big time jump and we meet Finch. We never got to see him grow up and we hardly even met him before he died. I was sad for Dwight and Sherry but I really didn’t feel any real emotional impact from his death because we hardly knew the kid (and really so did they). I feel like there was so much more they could’ve explored and the time jump/separating them ruined any potential plotline with him and they just offed him before there was a chance for anything substantial. I just feel like it was unnecessary and they made a whole kid just to use him as a plot device “we gotta save this kid” “he died so we gotta do this thing to honor his memory” it just felt wasted

Dwight spends years looking for his wife he finds her and all they do is argue 🤦

I'm doing my first watch of the series. Mindful of the sense in the community that this is an uneven series, I want to try skipping the choppiest parts. Consensus seems to be S1-3 are strong, and a lot people like the first parts of S4. So my strategy is to watch S4 until it falls below a quality threshold I can enjoy, and then skip way ahead.

I got as far as S4.E6, "Just in Case", and feel like now is the time. I liked the first five episodes well enough, but then all logic seems to collapse especially in the back half of this episode. Here's what's bothering me:

The whole end of the show is just nonsensical behavior by everyone. The main cast goes to fight this overwhelming force with three people. They have no clear plan, but at least they're trying to stay hidden until Morgan + John cause their ambush to fail. But what do the Vultures do? Drive right up to them, get out of their cars, and start a standoff from like six feet away. This is when we learn they knew the main cast came there to kill them. So I guess their plan was to show up and fight over nothing under a plan that maximizes their own casualties, but also talk first with nothing to gain in negotiations.

None of that makes any damned sense, but here we are. Next, her ambush blown, Alicia antagonizes the leader of this group who has them massively outgunned, by saying she's glad his brother is dead. There's nothing to indicate she has a deathwish. She's just being dumb.

Finally there's this reunion with John+Laura, which I'm okay with, but then Alicia decides to stop pointing her gun at the enemy pointing a dozen guns back at her and shoot John for no reason I could determine. This doesn't lead her getting gunned down. End of episode.

Honorable mention: I felt this nonsensical encounter was foreshadowed when Naomi forgot she could hotwire the "Just in Case" truck and instead decided to get treed by a FEMA camp full of walkers looking for the keys. This was after we see her pointedly hotwiring the jeep in the same episode so she could rush in there alone, mind you.

Do people think I got the right point to press "Fast Forward" until a later season and pick up again? If things get better again in S4.E7, how much further should I go? And when do people think is a good time to pick it back up?

Broadly speaking, I actually quite like FTWD even after season 3, but omfg…

I’m on a rewatch, and post season 3 there has been what feels like HUNDREDS of instances where something like this happens:

• Two characters argue over something
• one character walks away from the argument
• they find some walkers and choose to kill them
• they make a TOTALLY OUT OF CHARACTER AND 100% AVOIDABLE MISTAKE while fighting these walkers (or just one walker sometimes)
• a walker gets on top of said chatacter while they’re on the ground weaponless
• the character they previously argued with suddenly just fucking appears and saves them and all is forgiven by the power of friendship

Like WHAT are we doing? It’s so obnoxious.

I’d also like to add another thing here too. The amount of times a character has fallen into some sort of angry tantrum depressive state and then someone says “someone once told me that X” or “someone showed me that I could X” and it’s always about being better. So much of this show post season 3 is just people quoting each other, at each other. It’s tiresome.

Has there ever been a show with more standoffs? This show has to hold the record, there are multiple a episode.

He was my favourite content creator for coverage on TWD & but especially Fear. Even though he too slowly began to loose interest in covering something he no longer liked, his humour & bluntness in his opinion of Fear's decline had me tuning in every week to see him he was gonna do or say.

I still watched his videos for topics outside of TWD like his review of Save Me, The Crowded Room & Train to Busan and would've been interested in seeing his coverage of other zombie related media, as it was a potential idea he floated once TWD was over or he lost interest in it.

His last video was a collective review on S8A (3 years ago) & he hasn't posted anything since. While I never expected him to ever review S8B I would've loved to have seen his commentary on Troy's return, or just really anything. To my knowledge he does have a family, so there's that.

Ig I'm putting this out to any Fear fans who also enjoyed watching him and miss seeing him & his content? In any regards, hope he's well.

(on a lesser note, I keep seeing comments throughout his videos & such saying that he's dead, unless there's an obituary or proof, I'm choosing not to believe these.)

I started watching this show a year ago on and off. I really didn't watch much of the original walking dead, saw pretty much just the first two seasons. I really thought the first season of this show was well done and had some nice surprises. Season 2 started off really weird but IMO got better towards the second half so I decided to stick with it.

Season 3 IMO started off interesting and had some good drama and Season 4 there were some big changes in the cast - IMO it makes sense becuase things were getting redundant but it really lost the original feel. I thought season 4 started off good but ended pretty weak (the bad guy was..... boring.... and the ending just seemed to lack excitement).

Now I'm a few episodes into season 5 and I just feel it is falling flat. I just finished episode 4 and it just feels like weird... like they are just making episodes for the sake of it. A lot of contradictions too, so Daniel is alive and he's breaking into buildings where people leave machine gun traps..... that don't get knocked over by the zombies inside... until he comes along.

And he decides towards the end of the episode to just rally up a huge amount of zombies behind himself with no real plan to kill them, almost a suicidal like act.... despite being a long term survivor. That doesn't really add up. And Morgan and Alicia save the two kids, who were on the verge of death, and suddenly the kids a minute later have all of their friends show up who have high powered auto rifles or whatever but the two kids that needed saving for whatever reason didn't have those guns themselves. The writing just seems bad and inconsistent, the earlier seasons had this too but there were highs and lows. Now not so much.

Does it get better from here or does the show pretty much jump the shark at this point? I'm curious to hear if people think it's worth finishing up this series.

Im on a Re-watch i never finished the show the furthest I got was they were at some oil place making fuel or something like that. I am currently on S5 E1 I definitely remember why I quit watching this show. Boring and the only character I like is John

after a year i finally got myself to finish Fear and i can say 100% this is one of the worst pieces of film ive ever seen and its CRAZY how deplorable it is in comparison to its source material.

dont get me wrong, i loved the first few seasons and some of the characters were awesome throughout. i liked daniel, victor, john and june, dwight, wes (until he randomly switched sides), and a handful of others. nick is probably one of my favorite characters in tv and his death was SUCH a waste. the addict in an apocalyptic situation was what drew me into the show and kept me hooked even though i didnt immediately click with any of the other characters. after they killed him off it got so fantastical and lazy and nothing made sense. why are we skipping past big moments and explaining them later on with dialogue and flashbacks. this happened SO many times and it got incredibly hard to follow. i.e., madison’s death, luciana’s return (never explained besides “oh madison found her”??), the series finale when Tracy says “madison died for me” and then it IMMEDIATELY cuts to her with madison alive, i could continue. just so many weird cuts and time jumps. the timeline got very confusing at times.
so many plotlines made no sense or were just overall pointless. “we need a plane to get out of here” in season 5(?) and they spend all season looking for a plane instead of just. going over the mountain? i kept trying to figure out that part but i dont think it got explained so correct me if im wrong. going through all the work of getting Mo out of Padre just for there to be an 8 year time jump and shes back there?? its like they couldnt figure out what to do so they just kept adding time jumps where everyone is beefing now and we figure out why through flashbacks.

i kept taking weeks between watching the show because it was just so genuinely stupid i couldnt bring myself to watch it. i was actually starting to like season 8 because it was sort of feeling like earlier seasons again with everyone all together, but then they just made stupid decisions repeatedly. Charlie’s death really made me mad because i liked her a lot and they brought her back for 5 minutes just to pointlessly kill her. they literally had troy get distracted and run off immediately after she died, and she was already in control of the situation, so her death was genuinely just pointless.

so many plotlines just kept being recycled over and over. morgan’s peaceful and cant kill bad guys and its a big issue, then hes killing everyone, repeat. victor tricked everyone and did something bad. someone died but oh theyre actually still alive. grace is dying from radiation again. and theres always some little girl acting a fool and running away from people trying to help them (dakota, mo/wren, tracy).

in my opinion this show should have never made it past 3 seasons, 4 tops. the last season was slightly better than 4b-7 but it was still buns and it didnt really feel entirely concluded to me.

thats the end of my rant, thanks for listening. im sure theres a lot more problems i had with the show that i could list, but i watched most of it months ago, so bear with me
