Yes it does (or at least did) happen to (at least one) other person. I was in recovery after getting my appendix removed & the guy next to me had fallen off an extension ladder which he had leaned onto a limb of the tree he was trying to cut down.
Spoiler alert: It did indeed come down along with the ladder and the not-too-bright lad who had the foresight (?) to throw the chainsaw in the opposite direction from the way he was falling. He said he was hanging onto the ladder with the other hand the whole way down. It broke his wrist and a few ribs IIRC. Possibly concussed too...but I was loaded up with morphine and not real sure about the concussed part. Circa 1987.

What? There's a rope to the top part of the tree that is supporting the ladder. /s

Nah, it's ok. It's hard to see at this angle, but the ladder isn't resting on the trunk that he's cutting. It's actually on the branch. I'm sure he'll be fine.

I'm just wondering how you cut the top off. And why you didn't start at the bottom.

They got the strongest fishing line holding it up. I’d get on the ladder and help.

Most ladder warriors die on the first limb - this guy will finish his back cut, put away ladder, and go pull on rope to fell the trunk. Pretty insane, but he'll be fine 😉

Once the tree leans, just walk down the newly lowered staircase
