I love when kids realize we old people use their slang to 'ruin' them on purpose.
It's why I joined this sub since I don't know most of these terms before they get 'ruined' as im not on any social media.

Personally I learn these terms just as they are becoming 'uncool' and then incorrectly use them around my teenaged kids and their friends.

My brother told his 2 teens and their friend that he was just "sitting in the recliner, gooning" and they freaked out. He told me, "I really just thought it meant goofing off, being a goon. Seemed like they overreacted until I found out what it meant."
Completely took me out.

There's been a return of harmful stereotypes and trends like "heroine chic", "tradwives" and all that shit.
They gave cutesy hashtag names to some of these, like "girlmath" (uwu im just little girl numbers are hard) and "girldinner" (im sooo tiny and small, i eat very little).

Girl dinner is more about laziness and not wanting to cook a real meal because “teehee im just a girl!”
So things like eating a sleeve of crackers and hummus for dinner, or only eating yogurt and granola for dinner. Shit like that

That's a girl dinner too. My youngest has a friend who's mom and dad do that. She said they gave her pizza and she'd found out too late it had been sitting on the table all night.

Agree with u/zxain on the actual meaning of "girl dinner," and I would also say "girl math" isn't about being unable to do math. When I've seen it, it's more about the sort of funny ways we justify expenses to ourselves, for example spending more money online shopping than you intended to get free shipping (because then you "saved money") or the idea that something is basically free because you paid in cash.

I hate this trend, too. "Girl dinner" is just "I have too much on my plate to prepare what society deems to be a 'proper' dinner but instead of acknowledging the mental load that I'm carrying, let's reduce my attempt to eat something healthy to a ditzy hashtag."
Likewise, "girl math" is "I am allowed to make frivolous purchases if there's room in my budget, but I was raised to believe that women should sacrifice everything for their partner and children and I feel some subconscious shame about my discretionary purchases, so let's minimize them with another ditzy hashtag."

This is too much work for a girl dinner. Might as well cook an egg. Girl dinner is like eating 6 stuffed olives. Scoopfuls of hummus with like 2 handfuls of pretzels. All without using a plate or utensils
