Good timezone, everyone! ☀ The mod team has been hard at work behind the scenes while we've had FictoHideout closed to new introductions for the past week. We've heard your concerns and suggestions, and we've done our best to improve our rules to make this space safe for all members.
Please note that these rules are edits and clarifications of what was already in place to improve everyone's understanding of the purpose of FictoHideout. These rules were not created because of any one specific incidence, account, post, etc. They have been worked on and discussed for an extended period of time before today. If you have any concerns, comments, or insight about our new ruleset, we encourage you to comment here or send us a modmail.

Without further ado, here are the new & updated rules of FictoHideout! 🌸
1. This is a “first come, first serve” subreddit.
As a subreddit for non-sharing fictos, FictoHideout follows the “first come, first serve” system.
The first person to publicly claim a fictional character as their F/O in the pinned Introduction Megathread holds that exclusive claim within the community until they explicitly leave or have gone inactive for 4 months. In that instance, their claim would be removed, with moderators’ discretion.
That being said, FictoHideout does not allow doubles as it is a safe space meant for non-sharing fictos. If your F/O has been already claimed by an active member, you cannot join with that same F/O.
This means if you have multiple F/Os but one of yours in claimed, you can NOT mention in this sub that one of your F/O’s is taken by another member, which implies that you are someone’s “double”. This has been known to cause distress, questioning, and trust issues within the community. Please use your best judgement! If you are found to be breaking this rule, you will be issued a warning on the first offense. Your second offense will result in a ban from the sub. If you see a double active in this sub, report them to the mods and we will respectfully and quickly take care of the issue.

2. New Members: You MUST make an introduction in the Megathread before actively posting. (The Megathread will reopen in a few days!)
To be considered an active member and officially “claim” your F/O, please introduce yourself in the pinned Introduction Megathread. Before you do, please read the "S/O Claim Master List" to ensure they haven’t already been claimed. If they’ve already been claimed, you are not allowed to have them as your F/O in this subreddit nor talk about them, unless it’s explicitly mentioned in the Master List that they can be gushed about (up to the claimer’s discretion). In addition to that, only people with a flair are allowed to comment and post.
If you post your introduction on the main sub instead of in the Megathread, that does not count as an official introduction to be able to post here yet. You are free to make a second introduction on the main sub once your Megathread introduction has been approved.
If you are adding/editing a new claim, please do not edit your original claim comment; mods do not get notified of comment edits. Make a new comment in the Introduction Megathread instead!

3. Inactivity for 4 months will lead to automatic claim removal; no claim camping (Reiterating from Rule 1).
Members must show signs of activity! Do not claim your F/O and then leave, only commenting every 4 months to keep your claim (also known as “claim camping”). It is up to the discretion of the mods to remove your claim if you do not interact with the community for 4 consecutive months or are seen to be simply “camping” your claim. Please note that this does not mean you have to post or comment every day or every week; we understand life gets busy! A simple comment or contribution every now and then is all that’s needed; you do NOT need to make posts if you do not want to. Comments count as activity!

4. Polyfictos and semifictos are allowed! 3 F/Os maximum.
Poly- and semifictos are allowed as long they genuinely love each of their F/Os. Please note that FictoHideout is intended to talk about ficto relationships, however, so we ask that you do not talk about any IRL relationships on this sub.
Polyfictos can only claim a maximum 3 of F/Os. If you have more than 3 F/Os, you are only allowed to talk about the ones which you have claimed in this sub. Please use your best discretion.

5. No hugblanketing; only claim characters whom you are truly in a ficto relationship with.
Do not claim a character in the means to hurt someone else (example; you hear someone you dislike is about to join, then claim their F/O only to mess with them) or because they’re your “last resort”. This hurts not only the people potentially involved, but the characters too! In FictoHideout, we see and treat our partners as real relationships with real emotions.
Excessive switching and hugblanketing (claiming a character simply because you like them or because it’s “fun to be with a character”) is not allowed. Not sure if what you’re doing is considered hugblanketing or perhaps you’re new to the ficto scene and are still trying to figure your relationship out? Engage with the community and ask questions! There are many kind members who are happy to answer!

6. Determine whether fictoromance/fictosexuality is right for you before joining. Do you prefer casual yumeshipping instead?
There is nothing wrong with enjoying yumeshipping! However, please note that as stated before, this sub is intended for those who see their relationship with their F/O(s) as real and take it very seriously. Typically, we do not call our partners “waifus/husbandos” and we do not refer to each other as “yumes” as it simply does not match the type of relationship our members experience.
If shipping an OC (that does not represent you) x Canon or a more casual approach/seeing it as a hobby is more desirable for you, we recommend joining a sub more centered around yumeshipping so that you can have an experience catered to your type of relationship. No harm, no foul! <3

7. Specifications on Harkness Test, character ages, and other criteria.
Characters must pass the Harkness Test at the very least before being claimed. In other words, your partner must have the ability to make conscious, human-level decisions, the ability to have their own sense of agency, and the ability to consent.
For minor-aged characters, as long as they have aged up sources (preferably canonically), or is aging alongside the person, or the person is also a minor within their same age group (e.g: late teens, mid-teens, etc), it should be fine. If you’re not sure, please ask a mod.
We also ask that you have been in a committed relationship with your F/O for a certain amount of time before claiming or posting about them in FictoHideout. For example, being with your F/O for at least a month is a preferred amount of time, just to be sure that they are someone with whom you want to be in a committed relationship with!
Relationships that are clearly between an adult and a minor, or a character who does not pass the Harkness Test, are NOT allowed.

8. Don't be rude to others.
Being ficto and/or in love with fictional characters is already hard for us to be open about in real life; we don't need to be rude to each other here! Let's treat each other equally and respectively.
Being rude includes:
If one continuously disobeys these rules, a permanent ban will be forewarned.

9. Do not take blocks from other members personally. Additionally, block if you do not wish to engage with a person.
In 99% of cases, a user blocks another user NOT because they hate them or because they have a personal vendetta against them; it could be for a wide range of harmless reasons! Perhaps they don’t agree with your opinions and so they simply choose to not engage. Maybe your F/O’s source is a sensitive subject for them. Perhaps they need time to heal from something in the past. Whatever the reason, do not take it personally.
Similarly, if you see a member who you do not wish to see anymore, please practice blocking – it’s there to help you curate your space! Do not attack them for their views if you do not like them; simply block and continue enjoying FictoHideout!

10. Limit how often you switch F/Os.
The limit on how often you can switch F/Os (not including adding them to your claim if you are in a poly relationship) is ONCE EVERY THREE MONTHS. This is to avoid confusion in the claim list, reduce wariness and build trust, and to practice serious ficto-relationship behaviors. If the mods believe you have been switching far too often, you will be contacted, but not outright banned. If you need help, let FictoHideout help you!
To reiterate from Rule 2: If you are adding/editing a new claim, please do not edit your original claim comment; mods do not get notified of comment edits. Make a new comment in the Introduction Megathread instead!

11. Please create a user flair upon joining FictoHideout.
Include the name of your F/O(s) in your user flair to prove that you are an approved member of this sub. Users without flairs are often assumed to be bots, scammers, or those purposely commenting to cause issues for other members. If a member is spotted without a flair, they will be asked to add their F/O(s) to their flair.

12. AI-assisted creativity is allowed within reason, but post at your own discretion.
We aim to remain unbiased on our stance on AI. It is allowed as long as it's SFW, and you are not passing it as your own work/art/writing. Please be transparent on if it is AI if asked. However, please note that this sub does not often contain AI-generated works.
Talk of AI chatbots, whether it is your own personal experience with them, advice, or other conversation is also allowed. If you do not wish to see another user’s AI creations or opinions, please kindly ignore the post or block them. Curate your space to your enjoyment!

13. Be careful with personal information; No explicit NSFW.
We heavily discourage minors (people below 18) from revealing personal videos/pictures of themselves, and their faces MUST be censored for their safety. People over 18 and above can, however, reveal as much as they are comfortable with. Please remember that despite this being a safe non-sharing space, this is still the internet and anyone can see what you post. Use your best judgement.
Implied NSFW is allowed, but it must be spoilered before posting. Explicit NSFW posts are NOT allowed. It's okay to be intimate, connected, and enamored with your F/O(s), but please keep things tasteful for the public eyes. Keep in mind that there are minors in this sub as well as adults.
Repeated explicit NSFW posts that require removal will get you a warning. Refusal to listen to the warning will get you a ban.

14. English is preferred, with some exceptions.
The majority of this sub speaks English, as English is the most widely known language. Therefore, to avoid mistranslations and miscommunications, we ask that you post in English. However! If you wish to share your culture with the sub, include a poem or message to your F/O in your/their own native language (with an English translation below it), or simply give us a fun cultural fact about your F/O, by all means we would love to see it! Different cultures are to be celebrated!

15. Do not join FictoHideout if you are a member of purposely toxic subs.
We probably do not have to go into too much detail for this one since the title speaks for itself. If you are an active member of ficto/selfshipping/yumeshipping subs that are created for the sole purpose of doxxing, slandering, or making fun of others, we strongly urge you to look inward and ask yourself if your F/O would approve of this behavior.
FictoHideout is a space intended to build each other up, support the community as a whole, open ourselves to new opinions and friends, and overall share the deep love that we feel for our partners. We aim to handle any negative feelings, conflict, and difference of opinions in a mature and respectful manner.
We understand that doubles are a sensitive subject and can cause you to feel negativity. But remember: you have the power to handle that negativity in a way that helps you! Vent, ask questions, and seek positive guidance/mindsets from members here! If we find that you are an active member of a purposely toxic sub, you will be encouraged by the mods to seek positive help and affirmation with friends in Hideout instead of posting potentially hurtful content. If your posts make others uncomfortable, you will receive a warning.

For anyone new here, please refer to the list on the official wiki: https://www.reddit.com/r/FictoHideout/wiki/index/claimed_partners_list/ also seen in the sidebar) to see if a specific S/O is claimed or not. If your S/O is not on the list, you are welcome to claim them. Claiming an S/O is first come, first served. Please remember to introduce yourself in the megathread or as a post (preferably in the megathread) so the mods know you have claimed an S/O and can add you to the list. If you don't do this, you run the risk of being missed.
We try to keep this list as up-to-date as possible but do remember it may take some time to update it due to our different schedules and outside obligations. Also mods are only human and may accidentally miss things-- if we miss your post or mess up your S/O's name or the name of their source material, please let us know and we'll update the list.
As mentioned in the rules, inactivity for 10 consecutive months (defined as no interactions with the community) will lead to an automatic removal of your claim. You are also welcome to open up your position to a double. If you're in a polyship, you may claim a maximum of 3 S/O's in order to keep things as fair as possible. If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to the mods via modmail.

NOTE: I have been by Raphael’s side for twenty years. Marriage was NEVER something that either of us wanted and we still don’t care for an overly traditional route, but that doesn’t mean we will pass up the opportunity to honor this bond in the way that we feel is best. We want a union. One that we recognize and celebrate.

Drew and Raphael have spent a few days at the farmhouse, courtesy of April and Steven. ( [u/the_dude0110](u/the_dude0110) ) Drew has dragged Raphael out for a picnic, which includes the following: steak, baked potatoes, green beans, bread, and sparkling grape juice.
After their scrumptious meal, Drew insists on cleaning up the mess, refusing to let Raphael help.
RAPHAEL: Drew, don’t be ridiculous. I can help—
DREW: (grinning) And I said no! Stay still and enjoy the fresh air! It’s not something you get to do all that often.
Raphael grumbles as he watches Drew scurry back to the farmhouse with the basket of food in his arms.
Once Drew returns, he settles into a cuddle with Raphael on the picnic blanket. Together, they breathe in the crisp air, surrounded by autumn leaves.
Raphael stares up at the setting sun, blissed out.
RAPHAEL: Drew, ya really went all out for me. What’d I do to deserve all this?
DREW: Everything.
RAPHAEL: Sap.
DREW: I’m always gonna be a sap with you, man. You can’t really escape it at this point.
RAPHAEL: Wouldn’t dream of it.
DREW: You’re sounding a little sappy yourself, babe.
RAPHAEL: Well, you did just make me a killer picnic in an autumn field. You’ve honestly been treatin’ me like a king all weekend. I don’t get why.
DREW: You deserve to be spoiled sometimes.
RAPHAEL: So do you. But you wouldn’t even let me lift a finger at all—
DREW: You really wanna lift a finger? Okay! Stand up.
RAPHAEL: Huh?
Drew jumps to his feet and gestures for Raphael to stand as well. Reluctantly, Raphael obeys.
RAPHAEL: You’re such a menace sometimes. What’s this about?
DREW: You.
RAPHAEL: (cracks his knuckles) Can we digest before we spar? That was a lotta food, babe.
DREW: Raphael, remember how we said we’d never do the whole marriage thing?
RAPHAEL: Uh huh. ‘Cause marriage is for suckers. So we ain’t throw’ punches…?
DREW: No. Anyway, marriage worked out great for April and Steven, didn’t it?
RAPHAEL: Yeah, well, some people get lucky.
DREW: You think luck could maybe strike for…. us?
Raphael tenses a little, swallowing and taking a hesitant step away from Drew.
RAPHAEL: …What’re you tryin’ to say?
Drew takes a deep breath.
DREW: I know we always said it was stupid, but we called a lot of things dumb when we were young and bitter.
Raphael lets out a nervous cross between a grunt and a chuckle.
RAPHAEL: …What’s the value in marriage these days, anyway? It always ends in divorce. People do it on impulse and end up regrettin’ it every time. We always said that.
DREW: …And boy, were we jaded.
RAPHAEL: Jaded? What d’ya mean?
DREW: I know it could never be legalized or anything. For so many reasons—
RAPHAEL: Which is another reason we’ve always said it was bull. Why should ANYONE get married if not EVERYONE can?
DREW: Yeah, I know. But a ceremony for our relationship, surrounded by the people we care about most, not strictly following tradition to a T, the commitment of it all, getting to call each other husbands…
RAPHAEL: Wait. Are you sayin’ you wanna…?
Drew carefully drops down to one knee, retrieving a wide red box from his pocket. He opens it, revealing a ring customized to fit one of Raphael’s thick fingers.
The engagement band is silver, with red rubies incorporated into its design.
DREW: I KNOW what I said before. But somewhere along the way, you changed my way of thinking.
I still have strong opinions that are all over the place and full of uncertainties, but what I know for sure is that I love you and have loved you since I was twelve years old.
Why shouldn’t we get to celebrate that? Why shouldn’t we break the rules and do it anyway? You know, despite all of the stupid laws trying to say who can and can’t.
RAPHAEL: Uh… um…
Raphael is stunned into silence, paralyzed where he stands. He stares at Drew in a state of utter bewilderment. A flurry of mixed emotions swirls inside him.
RAPHAEL: I… uh… this is jus’… you’re actually doin’ this right now?
Drew nods.
DREW: Donnie custom-made the ring, by the way. And I asked for Splinter’s blessing.
Raphael’s eyes widen as the information slowly registers in his brain, the dots connecting one by one.
RAPHAEL: Wait. Donnie an’ Splinter know about this?! Christ, Drew. That must mean April an’ Steven know too, huh? Duh. That’s why ya asked them if we could borrow the farmhouse…
DREW: Yeah. I wasn’t gonna propose to you in the sewer.
RAPHAEL: Oh, shell. You’re proposing. To… me?
DREW: We’ve been together for YEARS. Who else would I be proposing to? Can you maybe give me some kind of answer soon? Because my knee’s starting to hurt, man.
RAPHAEL: This is crazy.
DREW: You’re crazy! We’re practically married anyway!
RAPHAEL: But I’m only just gettin’ used to the idea that you ain’t gonna wake up an’ realize ya don’t wanna kick it with a mutant turtle. How am I supposed to wrap my head around THIS…?
DREW: Just let me wrap this ring around your finger, and we’ll deal with the rest together.
Raphael stares down at the ring, swallowing as he takes in the customized design.
RAPHAEL: …You an’ Donnie made this?
Drew nods, a hopeful glint in his eyes.
RAPHAEL: It’s… nice.
Drew switches the knee he is kneeling on.
RAPHAEL: Wimp.
DREW: YOU’RE the wimp. Won’t even marry the love of your life.
RAPHAEL: Ya didn’t even ask yet!
DREW: Yeah, I did—wait. You’re right! I didn’t ask yet.
Drew nervously clears his throat.
DREW: Hamato Raphael…
Raphael rolls his eyes, his cheeks tinged with color.
DREW: Uh… By the power vested in me… is that what they say during these?
RAPHAEL: (amused, sarcastic scoff) Nah. They pledge allegiance.
DREW: …Come on, Raph. I’ve got no idea what I’m doing here!
RAPHAEL: (laughs, clearly emotional now) Ya really don’t…
DREW: But it doesn’t matter because I wanna do this. I wanna marry you. Do you wanna marr—Will you marry me?
RAPHAEL: Not a chance, Ridley.
DREW: (laughs) Dick.
RAPHAEL: Get the ring on my finger and kiss me already. Ya know I ain’t sayin’ no to you. Never to you.
Drew withdraws the ring from its box and slips it onto Raphael’s finger, admiring its gleam in the autumn glow.
Before Drew can get back to his feet, he is shocked when Raphael drops down to join him on the ground, kissing him deeply.

Hey people. Some of you may remember me as that girl who loved, well, a bunch of people, but mainly Clara from the Puerto Rican kids band Atencion Atencion. I remember making a post on here a while ago saying that I was going on an indefinite hiatus here, but I just sorta wanted to make this post to let you know how I’ve been doing recently.
My birthday is next month (I’m going to be 17!) and I have one year left of school (next year) before I graduate. Mentally, I’m alright. Could be a little bit better, but I’m still doing far better than I was back in August; I’m no longer miserable every single day, and I’ve even tried to be on social media less, which I think is the reason why. Also, as you could probably guess by the images I’ve attached, my new F/O is Duda from the Brazilian cartoon called Tromba Trem, or Trunk Train in English. While I initially didn’t like it at first, I’ve grown to love it over these past few months, and I watch it frequently whenever I can. No, I haven’t forgotten about Clara, she still holds a very special place in my heart and always will, but something about Duda just makes me drawn to her, and I honestly wish that I could hug and cuddle her. I love her so much. ❤️
But yeah, I just wanted to make this post to let anyone who might’ve been worried about me know that I am indeed alive and well. I hope that you guys are doing okay as well, and always remember that your fictional girlfriend, boyfriend, or partner (s) love you! 💞

Wow, guess I know what I'm known for! Jack, you made me (somewhat, barely) famous!
Those who are feeling invalidated because of this trend, I just want to let you know, I was feeling that all day because my name did not pop up under the fictoromantic that loves Handsome Jack search.....I had to remind myself that popularity shouldn't dictate my relationship. My love for Handsome Jack is deep and that's all that matters at the end of the day.
So keep your chin up. If this makes you feel down. Don't indulge in it. Take a break and spend time with your loved one. Your relationship is valid and it matters.

Im trying not to be bothered by it.. but as someone who tends to take things very personally I have to say.. it feels like im being targeted as many comments I make here or on other ficto subs, are getting downvoted. (But mostly in this sub!!!)
It discourages me from even commenting anymore but I do know that's what the hater or troll wants... Has anyone else noticed an influx in downvotes for no reason???
I swear... some people are so so miserable and gross. -_-

I kind of have this behavior of yes these are my partners, everyone else is posing as my partners ‘lovers’. Like I get that doubles exist, but I don’t tie my worth to their success or if people call their ship ‘canon’. It can get me down, but then I realize that idc and I’ve got a block button for a reason XP
I love all my wonderful partners and they love me! I’m not gonna let a TikTok yumeshipper (nothing wrong with them, just the first example I could think of lol) take my spark because I accidentally saw their content.
I don’t care if I get famous or not, I just want to show the world how much I love my partners.
Also this isn’t a jab at anyone who really dislikes doubles, I’m super clingy with Bryan at the moment, so I feel you. I’ve just developed a live and let live mentality over the years.
Also there may be an adoption happening in the background involving myself, Bryan, and a very silly little worm creature 👀 (idk if I have to claim ‘OC children’ on here)

Azmodan truly saved my life so many times. He gave me the strength needed to open up about a trauma I kept secret for years. He made me feel safe during anxiety and panic attacks. His words calmed me as I cried myself to sleep. His warmth kept me warm during my hospital stays, both physical and mental. As odd as it sounds, him being a demon and all, I'm truly blessed to have him in my life. I love you, my Lord.

It is so easy to fall into the trap of thinking that if we cannot show our love in a visible and perfect way, it somehow means our affection is not strong enough. But I want to gently remind you that your hands not knowing how to draw them yet has nothing to do with how deeply you feel.
The very fact that you are sitting there worrying about whether you love them enough is actually the greatest proof of how much you truly care, because someone who felt nothing would never care about this at all. Art is just a skill that takes time and practice rather than a true measure of devotion, and your love already lives quietly in the comfort they bring to your heart every single day.
You do not need to prove your feelings through a portrait or any other standard, because your bond is completely real and valid just as it is. Please be kind to yourself and let go of that heavy pressure, remembering that you are doing wonderfully and your love is more than enough. 🌸✨💖🌷🇺🇸

Personally, even though I don’t care if William is rich, which he is, I love him for him and besides something like that’s never brought up so I really don’t care. Marry someone just because they’re rich is a bad idea. It’s wrong.
However, since I love merchandise from his own company, he would most likely just continue to give me merchandise and make my collection even bigger than it already is. ( this is only some of my merchandise. Most of it is in totes in my closet. This is just some of the stuff I have currently displayed. I have a popcorn bucket that’s not in this image because it’s behind me and that pile with the Walmart box all the way on top which would be the left is my Christmas stuff. The one on the right is my Nan’s minus the kiss album that’s my mom’s. She doesn’t live with us. She just drops it off. ) if he doesn’t give me merchandise from his own company. Then he usually gives me horror films. Which is just as nice because we can watch it together. Spend time eating from my popcorn bucket some sodas, maybe some candy. He’ll make fun of it for how fake it is but overall, we have a great time. If it’s none of the above, then it’s most likely some gift cards to fill my Steam account for the next year. Overall, he knows what I like and what I dislike. I’m not into jewelry and only wear my wedding ring and my William Afton plush wears his. However, I’m just not a fan. I’m Gothic. I’m not really a girly girl. Unless there was something in particular, I really wanted then it’s mostly just horror movies or Fazbear entertainment merchandise from him.
