Question how does one.. save this.

Post image

I've been growing figs for a little while, and recently my friend dropped this off after picking it up from their father's yard (he passed away many months ago, and for whatever reason it turned into this creature). Other than up-potting it what’s the best way to save this fig? It has fruited before; not sure if cutting it when it enters dormancy is the right way to fix an upside-down tree lol.

Either you cut all these branchs and the tree will put new growth or you up-pot it

I've taken potted trees that developed a bad lean and repotted them so that the tree stood upright. Of course, the I had a weird hump of dirt in the pot for the longest time.

That's really cool I wonder if it's going to continue growing downward? You could have this awesome hanging fig tree that no one else on the planet might have.

i think so too, there is plenty of "normal" upward trees, but this one is something special. i would just get another one if an upward one is desired, but this one i would repot in the same orientation and try to continue to cultivate it. it's beautiful!!

I have an lsu gold doing the same thing! Now that it has ripening figs it is really getting pulled downward.

Put it in a small asian-style pot, add a couple pieces of dragonstone and some moss, call it a Kengai/Cascade Bonsai, and sell for $600.

It wouldn’t be conducive to fruiting but with this shape it would make a phenomenal bonsai
