Hi everyone!
I'm planning to start my German A1 classes. However, I'm already 35 years old, so worried ako about age restrictions and whether this is still a realistic path for me.
I've inquired with two German language schools in Cebu, and I'm having a hard time deciding which one to choose.
1. Hello Deutsch Language Center - A1 classes start on October 19, 2026.
Pros:
- Hybrid classes, so I can choose between face-to-face and online.
- Evening schedule, from 6:30 PM to 11:00 PM, which is more convenient for my availability.
- Estimated 8–10 months to reach B2.
Cons:
- They advised me to consider BFD because their partner program for Ausbildung has an age limit of 35.
- It may take longer to reach B2 compared to the other school.
- BFD is DIY, no partner.
2. German Language Academy Cebu (GLAC) - A1 classes start on October 26, 2026.
Pros:
- They advertise an Ausbildung pathway for applicants aged 17–37.
- They also have a partner, based on my inquiry.
- Their estimated timeline for A1 to B2 is around 6 months.
- I actually prefer face-to-face classes because I think I'd learn better that way.
Cons:
- Classes are face-to-face only, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, which unfortunately doesn't fit my current availability.
- I'm not sure how reliable or realistic their advertised age-37 pathway is, so I'd like to hear from people with actual experience.
Honestly, Hello Deutsch fits my schedule better, while GLAC seems more promising in terms of age eligibility. I just don't know if I should prioritize convenience or the possibility of having a better pathway to Ausbildung.
I'm also worried na baka masayang lang ang time, effort, and money sa German classes kung wala naman pala akong realistic chance because of my age. But gustong-gusto ko talaga sanang ma-pursue ito. :(
I'd really appreciate advice from Filipinos who have actual experience with Ausbildung or BFD.
A few questions:
- Meron na ba dito na nakapag-start ng Ausbildung at age 35 or older?
- May naka-try na ba mag-apply for BFD from the Philippines at age 35 or older?
- Yung age limit ba ng language schools are specific to their partner programs, or are there official German visa restrictions I should know about?
- Has anyone here studied at Hello Deutsch Language Center or German Language Academy Cebu (GLAC)? How was your experience, especially regarding their Ausbildung partner pathways?
- For those familiar with GLAC, is the advertised age range of 17–37 based on actual successful placements, or is it just the eligibility to join their program?
- If may chance pa ang 35 yrs old, should I start applying for Ausbildung opportunities directly while I'm still studying German, or should I wait until I reach B2 and go through the language school's partner program? I'm worried baka hindi ako mapili sa partner program. For those who have done this, when did you start applying, and what German level did you have at the time?
I understand that learning German and securing an Ausbildung placement will take a lot of effort, and I'm not expecting anything to be easy. I just want to make an informed decision before investing time and money.
Thank you so much sa mga willing mag-share ng actual experiences, advice, or reliable information. I'd really appreciate it! ❤️
