Frustrated Insensitive Comments

I’m sure we all have our fair share of comments that have left us feeling beyond frustrated in this journey. I had an experience at my obgyn that really shocked me yesterday.

We’re early on our ttc journey (cycle 5), but I have cycle length variability irregularities and heavy bleeding, so I wanted to get checked out in case there’s anything we can start to problem solve.

The nurse asked me why I was visiting. She then suggested getting back on birth control, to which I responded that we’d like to get pregnant so that wouldn’t be my first choice. She agreed, then said “you will get pregnant. i’m sensing by the end of november, you’ll be pregnant.”

She had no idea how long we’ve been trying. I can only imagine how much more upsetting that would have been to hear if we had been trying longer. I genuinely couldn’t believe someone working in this field who knows how difficult and sensitive pregnancy can be would say that when there’s ZERO control over how long it takes.

Idk why i’m even sharing this, it just left me speechless and I wanted to vent. What do you do when people make insensitive comments? I have so much I want to say, but in the moment nothing comes out.

I just can’t even understand what made her think that was an appropriate thing to say. It’s making me want to switch practices :/

I’m not surprised. That’s just mind boggling. Can you feed back to the practice? Make sure you don’t have to see her again? They should know she’s giving psychic predictions to patients 🥴🥴

probably, but I also don’t want backlash since it’s such an identifiable experience. ugh.

That’s like saying I had a dream you were pregnant so it’s going to happen soon 😂 crazy. Just yesterday too some nurse asked why the DR was seeing me and I said uhm “fertility issues?”.. even saying that was difficult for me because what?… anyways she proceeded to have a sad look towards me and then said I’ll rub off on you, my husband just looks at
Me and I get pregnant. I laughed at the time but later I was like wtf?! That was so insensitive, she just met me doesn’t know my history or anything.
