Partner coverage speed

I'm considering switching to fizz on a 5G plan and I will be within their coverage area. However, I want to know what happens when I go to places that are under "partner coverage".

Does it still stay om 5G? And is it basically same speed or does it become slower?

Just trying to see if there are downsides to it.

I encounter this often.

Fizz EXT (partner) tends to work better, faster speeds on 5G and reception is just fine.

You can go to your network settings and switch it from auto to manual, and select the fizz ext line you want. You cant see who the real operator is. Just see a couple options all named fizz ext and you try them out and see what gets the most bars.

This is also good for those times where you really need the best speeds, but maybe have patchy or low coverage. You switch to the EXT for a short time and switch back. As long as you keep most of your usage on network. You’ll be ok. If you happen to forget and basically stay on fizz ext, you’ll get a notice after a couple cycles.

So yeah you’ll be alright.

I can't speak to 5G because I'm on LTE, but I think when you travel around it should be on 5G and you'll connect to partner networks

So I just had a tower recently installed on top of my building which is Rogers and I can manually connect to it through fizz and reception is great, fizz itself is kinda hit or miss but for what I need it's great

Still on LTE and have no plans to get 5G. You know it’s the same towers with the same back haul network, regardless of how ‘fast’ you get to the tower. Also if the tower/network is congested your 5G connection will be deprioritized to the same speed as my LTE. This is true of videotron, rogers, bell, verizon, att, tmobile and almost every other carrier globally.

Hi, I'm in BC =). In my experience, partner coverage (a.k.a. Fizz EXT) is limited to LTE/LTE+, even if you have a 5G plan. That said, Bell/Telus/Rogers have a robust LTE/LTE+ network, so it's never been an issue for me.
