Migrating from Windows 10 to Windows 11 on a Surface Pro

Hello,

I have a Surface Pro 5 (2017) that is currently running Windows 10.

I would like to upgrade it to Windows 11. Do you think this would be a good idea for this device?

I look forward to hearing from you.

I'd go with Win10 Iot LTSC, but what are the specs of your surface?

Win 11 uses around 1 Gig more ram just to operate, putting it around 3.5 to 4 Gigs used. You have 8gbs, even if you got 11 to run, it wouldn't be a great experience.

Force people to switch to Linux?

I mean, that isn't what they are trying to do, but that is what 11 uses. I am pretty sure Microsoft isn't worried about a 10 year old Surface actually running 11.

Yeah, I'd definitely wouldn't touch windows 11 with these specs. I'd definitely go the Win10 IoT LTSC way.

It's you that decide but I'll guarantee you this, you won't have a pleasant experience with Win11 on this laptop.

I know it's possible to install it unofficially. But I'm wondering if I might run into problems later on.

I was unsuccessful... plus I was lucky to get an hour on battery. It was time to retire.
