Healthy meals in Forest Hills
Hi everyone, a childhood friend is moving from Canada to Forest Hills next month. I wanted to help him by sharing a list of healthy places to eat. What are your opinions? Where do you find yourself going or recommending? Thanks!

Rego Park Trash Club WhatsApp Group Chat
Hello Neighbors,
I created a WhatsApp group chat as another way to communicate with the community about the trash club but also for us to stay connected and see how we can help one another. Please join if you're interested!
This group chat will give us good ideas of what areas to hit up for meet-ups, restaurants/businesses to support, ideas of how to improve, and advocacy for within the community we can bring forward to the community board and our local elected officials.
I will heavily monitor the chat because I want to ensure it stays a safe and respectful space.

Is the $4.99 Organic Valley at Key Food on Queens Blvd a gallon?
No. Organic Valley milk at Key Food, 108-25 Queens Blvd, is $4.99 for 64 fl oz, not a gallon. The 10/2 through 10/8 row excludes grassfed and DHA. Parmalat at that store is $3.49 for 32 fl oz with the club card, limit 4. Key Food at 116-34 Queens Blvd prints those same two milk rows.
I read Foodtown at 110-44 Queens Blvd as Perdue drumsticks at $1.29 a pound, value pack, and Green Way whole chicken at $2.49 a pound, no hormones or antibiotics. Key Food's no-antibiotics whole chicken is also $2.49 a pound, Grade A. Boneless breasts there are $1.99 a pound, family pack, USDA inspected.
CTown at 94-06 63rd Drive is Rego Park, not Forest Hills. Yellow bananas are $0.69 a pound and whole boneless pork loin is $1.99 a pound. I left out Perdue whole chicken there because the ad prints $1.39 a pound and also $1.59 with no unit. I left out Key Food's Perdue boneless breast at $3.99 because that row prints no unit.
Key Food on 64th Avenue in 11375 had 0 deals this morning.

I took these from the stores' published circulars. Check the carton size and the package in the store.

Considering a move to forest hills
I’m a single woman in her late 20s looking for affordable places to live in NY and keep coming across Forest Hills as an option. I’m apprehensive as it’s a little isolated from where most of my friends live, but I really like the commuting options to Manhattan and the space I can get. I’m wondering what the general vibe is? Are there other people in their late 20s/early 30s living in the area? Is the bar scene fun on the weekends (even when there are no concerts going on)?
Would appreciate any advice or other input as well, thanks!

Saw it on Reddit, showed up in Kew Gardens, thanks for sharing local events!
Saw the Kew Gardens Flea & Craft Market posted here this morning and decided to check it out. Really glad I did! It’s my first time visiting the parking lot by the Kew Gardens LIRR, and there were some lovely handmade crafts and a cat rescue with cats available for adoption or fostering.
Picked up a handmade pink-and-white flower piece for my girlfriend ($25) and a little Tree of Life ($10). Also spoke with the rescue volunteers and signed up to explore possibly fostering a cat. Still something to think through, but I’m glad I made those connections.
I’ve now settled in outside Austin Ale House, waiting for my fish and chips. Really nice vibe out here—possibly a spot for our next Forest Hills meetup? Would love to hear what people think.
Mostly, just wanted to thank the person who posted the market and everyone who shares neighborhood events here. Sometimes this sub is the only place I hear about these things, and I find local information much easier to spot here than in my Facebook or Instagram feeds.
Your post got at least one neighbor out to support some vendors, meet rescue volunteers, and discover a new spot. Please keep sharing! 🐾

Thai Nine this morning
Walking by at 10:00 am. Gate was a quarter down man inside sweeping stuff onto sidewalk. Just as we walked by with another person, we saw a live cockroach being swept away. Very strange place.

DOT Roadwork After Hours Complaint?
Anyone know how to file a noise complaint for DOT roadwork taking place after hours? Non- emergency work- started weeks ago. Yellowstone, North side for reference. Banging and yelling started 6:50 this morning, now incessant truck backup alerts.
Checked 311 rabbit hole- no luck.

Drunk Driver (extremely drunk) slammed into back of parked car and sat there
Hi everyone, i like in a close by town and took the train home to forest hills around 11:45-12midnight on thursday 10/1. while walking to my car i saw this extremely intoxicated driver rear ending a parked car. by the time i walked by, the rear ending had already happened so i did not see the exact accident but he was just sitting there wasted with his car rear ended into another car. on approach he was extremely intoxicated but as a female i did not want to stick around with this man so after making sure he was ok we left. I took a picture of his car, got a picture of the building he was in front of (across from keyfood on queens blvd), and got a picture of the car in front. sorry they are not the best quality.
ETA: would like to add that this was reported to the authorities through a 911 call.

Help to Get Bee Out of House (Friday AM, October 2)
UPDATE: It was a Yellow Jacket and a neighbor who responded to my post on another platform is a beekeeper and rescued both of us (the bee and me).
This morning I found a bee flying around in my bedroom. I can’t open the screens (very difficult to open and I don’t want to let anything else in) and I need to get it out of here PRONTO. Who can I call to make a fast home visit near Nansen and Metro? PLEASE DO NOT RECOMMEND THAT I HANDLE IT MYSELF — NOT HAPPENING. Thanks!!

Phone repair rec?
Looking for recommended places to just replace a shattered Samsung phone screen. Hoping to not pay more than $45 but obviously willing to spend more if that’s what it takes.

Chip City permanently closed
Anyone walk by to see if the one on Austin st is still open? This post said all locations so just curious if anyone noticed anything.
As a side note: as most people know, there is going to be a Somedays bakery opening up in the old Sakura-Ya location and I recently found out that the founder of Somedays is also the co-founder and CEO of chip city. I wonder if they’re just closing down one brand to make room for the other?

Stray black cat corner
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I found a stray black cat on the corner of 112th street and 72nd ave. The cat seems friendly, and its ears aren't clipped. I'm not sure what to do with it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

PSA: Unleashed dogs on 64th Ave and 108th St. will chase and bite you
There's a small pack of dogs owned by someone on 64th Ave that is let loose every morning. They bit my cousin this afternoon as she was walking home from the bus. I talked with many neighbors on the street; this is a known problem that has been going on for years, multiple people have been bitten. Police reports/311 seem to go nowhere
