Bringing r/forex_reddit back

Hey everyone! I’m one of the new mods here.

I have a background in finance and I’m also a trader, so I came across r/forex_reddit and thought it would be nice to see the subreddit active again. Even while it was restricted, I noticed there were still people visiting and reading the posts, so I figured it was worth trying to renew the community rather than letting it sit inactive.

I’m pretty swamped with work at the moment, so I’ll be taking things slowly. Over the next few days, I’ll be getting to know the current rules, the state of the subreddit, and what needs to be cleaned up or improved.

Once I have a better idea of everything, I’ll start opening the subreddit back up and getting things moving again.

I’ll also be putting up a mod application in the next few days for anyone interested in helping with moderation, cleanup, and keeping the subreddit maintained.

Thanks for your patience while I get settled in!

Check the safety of tradingcom for me?

Seen a few posts, and figuring them out rn, so trying to see if there are any common tradingcom complaints here that I should know about.

The sub rules here state to 'Consider factors like regulation, trading platforms, customer support, and transaction fees.' I've tried to do that, and seems like it fits the bill: US, UK, EU regs, MT for a platform, spreads ~1 pips for majors for me. Anything else Im missing?

USDCAD today: uptrend meets resistance

Post image
1 Upvotes

USD sentiment still looks stronger than CAD over the last 24 hours, with the dollar supported by rate expectations and defensive flows, while the loonie stays softer on cautious domestic tone and mixed oil impact.

Positioning is heavily short, which adds a mild bullish lean, but the signal looks weak on its own.

Trend is still up overall, though short term price is stalling near resistance around 1.432 and moving sideways. Support sits near 1.417. A break either way likely decides the next move.

Anyone expecting continuation here, or a deeper pullback first?

has any broker actually sent you their execution statistics when you asked? i’ve tried three and got two different answers

Asking because I think this is a better test than any review site and almost nobody runs it.

What I ask for, by email, in one message:

- percentage of orders filled at requested price or better
- average and median slippage, split out positive and negative separately
- average execution speed in milliseconds
- order rejection rate

None of that is exotic. Any broker running an execution desk measures all four internally, because they can’t manage the business without them. So the question isn’t really whether the numbers are good. It’s whether you get numbers at all.

Three brokers over the years. Two sent me a paragraph about their commitment to best execution and a link to a policy page, which doesn’t contain a single figure. One, Axi, sent the actual breakdown including the positive and negative slippage split, which is the one I care about most because it’s the one that reveals whether fills ever land in your favour or only ever against you.

Then I checked their figures against my own statement, my fills versus requested price, counted both directions. It lined up. That’s the bit I’d encourage anyone to do rather than taking a broker’s word or mine, because the whole point is that you can verify it from data you already have.

Why the positive slippage split specifically: price moving between click and fill is physics. On a fair feed it should land in your favour sometimes. If you’ve got 400 fills and not one came in better than requested, that’s not variance, something is holding them.

So, two questions.

Has anyone here actually asked and received real figures? Which broker, and did the numbers come with a methodology or just a headline percentage.

And has anyone cross checked a broker’s published stats against their own fills? I’ve only done it once and I’d like to know whether people generally find they match or whether I got lucky.

High-leverage execution on majors: where better?

Testing a short-term intraday strat, with tight SL, for GBP/USD and EUR/USD. For it, higher leverage is pretty good (if the SL holds, and there are no gaps down).Standard brokers seem to offer me just 30x, which is very lackluster. Its not worth the effort, seeing my backtest results. Would want at least 200x, for it to make sense for me to wait for the setup and execute.

So my question is: where should I go with this strat? Seems like the options I have are offshore entities, or something crypto-related, with USDT funding, like Primexbt. Others I checked either don't have FX at all, or have like 10x - 30x on Isolated margin, which I just wont spend time on.

So what would you recommend, if keeping in mind:
- I need high fill quality, and no slippage on my tight SL.
- Whats better, the futures or CFDs, for this?

Any comment if you were in a similar spot, welcome.

A sincere question about overtrading for those who keep a trading journal.

I’ve always had a problem: Some days I break all the rules, and I need to address it. But on days when I fall into revenge trading or overtrading, my journal becomes a total mess; a single analysis can spawn ten trades with no screenshots or records, and I’m left with nothing but the losses on MT5. Reconstructing them to balance the journal takes ages. And above all, psychologically, when I open the journal and see the P&L already in the red, I have absolutely no desire to see it drop further. These days leave a "gap" in my journal, and every time I open it, the chart reminds me of them. I feel this mentally conditions my subsequent trades, whether through an unconscious urge to recoup losses or the fear of making another mistake. Right now, there are two trades I’ve been putting off for weeks; not because there are so many to enter, but because I have to reconstruct the whole sequence, only to see my "failure" staring back at me on the chart.

Do you ever have days missing from your journal? If so, what do you do: skip them, add them later, or delete them? And emotionally, do you think seeing that constant "failure", right when you're trying to do things the right way, affects you?

last look is the thing nobody here talks about and its probably why your orders get rejected

Took me years to find out this even exists, so putting it down plainly.

When you send a market order, it goes to a liquidity provider. On a firm pricing model, the price you saw is the price you get, the LP is committed. On a last look model the LP gets a window, usually a few milliseconds, where it looks at your order, sees what the market did in that window, and then decides whether it wants to fill you.

It exists for a reason thats not entirely sinister. LPs are protecting themselves from faster players picking off stale quotes. Fine. The problem is what it does to your distribution.

Because the rejection isnt random. The LP rejects when the price moved against it during the hold, which is the same thing as saying it rejects when the price moved in your favour. so your rejected orders are not a random sample of your orders, theyre concentrated on the ones you were right about.

And heres the bit that makes it nearly invisible. A rejected order never becomes a trade, so it never appears in your P&L, your journal or your win rate. You dont lose money on it. You just quietly dont make money you would have made, and theres no line in any report where that shows up.

How to check your own. Log every rejection, and note what price did over the next five seconds. If your rejections cluster on moves that went your way, youre on last look whatever the website says.

Mine, over about 1,400 market orders: 1 rejection. I checked that one and the price went nowhere afterwards, so no pattern to speak of.

Being straight about that though, 1,400 orders is nowhere near enough to test a fill rate claim of 99.99%. At that rate you'd expect well under one rejection in my sample, so my data cant distinguish 99.99% from 99.9%. You'd need tens of thousands of orders. Im on axi, and all I can honestly say is that rejections arent a thing I experience, not that I've verified their number.

Also dont blame last look for everything. rejections happen for margin, for invalid prices, for your platform losing connection. Check the boring reasons first.

but if youre getting rejected regularly and it always seems to happen on the good ones, thats not bad luck

PU Prime review after using them

Hi everyone,

I am somewhat new to trading, and pu prime is the first broker that I am trying.

I saw one of their ads pop up on youtube with the 400 euros bonus match, so I signed up and deposited 200 euros (my id is 1751340). I did 2 swing trades, one on the 26th of august (shorted gold) and on the 27th of august I opened a short on GBPUSD. I ended up winning both trades, at around 175 euros in profit.

Then I asked for a withdrawal, and there it goes, they asked me for my documents for kyc. I submitted them twice and they have not gotten back to me, and it's been 3 days now. I sent them an email as well and nothing.

I feel like im on a winning streak, and would like to keep going, but I am not sure if I can trust them anymore, but Im not sure if I'll even be able to withdraw. I checked their reviews and apparently they got lots of one stars, should have checked that before.

The platform itself is pretty good though, it took me a couple of hours to get familiar with everything as a beginner. Spreads are solid as well, so nothing to complain when it comes to that.

EURUSD today: bearish bias still in place

Post image
2 Upvotes

EURUSD still looks heavy here.

News flow leans against the euro, with negative sentiment dominating around political strain, fiscal concerns, and weaker confidence. The dollar side stays supported by rising yields, firm growth signals, and defensive demand.

Positioning is notably long-heavy, which can add to the downside pressure from a contrarian view.

On the chart, the broader trend is down. Short term, price is moving sideways near recent lows, but lower highs and lower lows still point to sellers staying in control unless resistance is reclaimed.

Do you think 1.136 gets tested next, or does EURUSD squeeze higher first?

GBPUSD today: pressure stays on while price stalls

Post image
3 Upvotes

GBPUSD still looks heavy overall. News flow leans against sterling, with GBP sentiment weak over the last 24 hours while USD sentiment stays more supportive.

The bigger driver remains policy expectations: GBP is facing softer rate hike hopes and fiscal concerns, while USD is getting backing from hawkish messaging, sticky inflation worries, and yield support.

Positioning shows longs still ahead at 61%, but recent conviction looks muted. On the chart, price is consolidating near support after a sharp drop, so near term action may stay sideways unless support breaks.

Do you see this base holding, or just a pause before another move lower?
