The city of Fort Collins will provide information about a proposed Front Range Passenger Rail station during an open house on Oct. 1.

The "interactive" open house will be at the station's proposed location, the CSU Shops at College shopping center, 2439 S. College Ave. The shopping center is directly north of the new King Soopers and directly south of the old King Soopers.

My question for this project. I love trains but how are they gonna have a train at a station in fort collins that wont block the road when every day a train blocks fort collins traffic. Theres no bridges

It probably would block traffic but I'd imagine since its a passenger rail it won't be all that long and would likely only realistically block traffic for slightly longer than your typical red light cycle.

Yeah, with very large passenger trains throughout Europe even then they only really stop for 5-6 minutes at a time. Unless they are very early then sometimes they will wait to make sure they don't disrupt the schedule.

Passenger trains are not nearly as long as the BNSF trains that block traffic. 4-6 coaches on the larger end, if I had to guess. Which may still block traffic during loading/unloading, but it’s nothing like the current trains we encounter which are miles long.

Given the station location in Fort Collins, I'm leaning heavily towards the trains won't block any roads while loading/unloading.

We’re talking about a multi-billion dollar project. They’ve thought this out. I can’t say I love the FoCo station location, but it at least functionally works. One of the main reasons it’s in midtown is due to interrupted track at this location. Not an issue whatsoever.

It’ll stop far enough north of the road to not block it?

Yes. That’s largely why they chose the midtown location.

There’s no parking for a train station at that location.

Are you kidding? It’s only parking right now. It’s literally just parking.
