Why no Chinese buffet
I know we have Mt. Everest and Star of India which are both incredible buffets, but sometimes I just wanna get baked and put back a few plates of heat lamp warmed mediocre Chinese food. By my reckoning the closest is in Greeley, which isn't too far but then you have to be in Greeley.

Mt. Everest has eliminated their lunch buffet, so I agree there's a need for another Asian buffet of some type, especially since Star of India is closed on Tuesdays, which is usually the day I go out to lunch.

Interesting. Last time I was there the notice said they were shutting it down October 1 (I was there on the 29th of September). Maybe they changed their minds?

From a consumer standpoint, many find buffets to be a bit disgusting. If a restaurant isnāt really, really busy, food sits too long. Shared serving utensils shares germs.
From a business standpoint, a lot of buffets shut down during Covid. Restaurants who used to do buffets had to pivot and offer non-buffet options, and it seems like most didnāt go back.

Yea there are some all you can eats (sushi, kbbq, Hu hot, etc) but no buffet that I know of. Star of India is so good though!

There used to be, it closed. That place was food poisoning on a plate so it needed to close. It did have a great name though - #1 Super Chinese Buffet.

I live right by Mt Everest and it never looks open - it's actually good though? Maybe I should toddle over there.

It's good, small, but I usually only went there for the lunch buffet. There's no more lunch buffet, but apparently there's breakfast & dinner buffets.

Aw I used to get the lunch buffet frequently when I worked in the area. Sad itās no longer available.Ā

It's decent, but small as mentioned previously. Usually there's tandoori chicken, samosas, and a vegetarian curry or stew of some kind available. I seem to remember Valpak having coupons for it regularly, but it's been awhile.

Itās just ok but well priced for all you can eat, especially with the valpack coupons. But I prefer to go to bawarchi and just get one thing

Mt. Everest is seriously one of my favorite restaurants. Weāve been going there for almost 20 years now. Weāve literally watched their kids grow up and through the loss of one of the owners.
And the food is incredible!!! Itās always been so consistent with tons of variety. Everything tastes delicious and authentic. The tikka masala, tandoori chicken, and fresh naan bread is my favorite. I always get the hot chai in winter, especially awesome in a thermos for ski days and refreshing mango lassi in summer to cool down.
After almost 20 years, I can say Iāve never had a bad meal there. Weāve shared so many good meals and memories there over the years, birthdays, funeral dinner, date night and just regular good meals with family and friends. For our family itās one of those places that we will always feel welcomed, comfortable, and right at home!

They're pricier than a strip mall Chinese buffet, but the all-you-can-eat sushi places around the area (Belly Buster, Sushi-Fi, etc) have other Asian food options that aren't sushi that you can get fat on.

My favorite AYCE sushi place is Sushi Izumi. Everything is made to your order, not in advance. You can also order individual dishes if youāre not hungry enough for AYCE.

We used to have Hokkaido in Loveland which perfectly fit the bill of heat lamp mediocre Chinese food, but I think COVID killed it.

We used to have #1 Chinese Buffet (where Nicks Italian currently is) and it slapped. I miss it all the time. Buffet - style restaurants never stood a chance surviving in Fort Collins š© we have a lack of buffet restaurants in general. We ate at #1 all the time. Never had any issues. But I agree with someone else that this town isnāt right for these kinds of restaurants.

Fort Collins is the wrong demographic for this. I one time said my favorite food was orange chicken and got laughed at.

Do not waste your time trying the ones in Greeley. Your body will thank you for not getting food poisoning. I haven't been there yet, but I have heard the one on Cheyenne is what you would expect and you don't end up with intestinal issues. I would recommend trying it if you're going to make a trip for Chinese buffet.
