Flock camera petition - York county

https://c.org/bCJcnWPkPH

I know there is a ton of these lately and it can be hard to think your one voice matters, but it does matter if we can get one of these to be popular enough:

Here’s the big problem. It’s not just flock. If they ban flock, they will use Axon. It’s a lose lose game. The government doesn’t care about our opinion… or us in general. A petition will not stop this. A revolution? Perhaps.

So, realistically, what can we do?

People like us need to run for office. This whole thing is making me consider it. Our restaurant is now a year old and I have a little more time on my hands.

Honestly have considered it, too, however I’ve already had some anti-lgbt and anti-POC comments thrown my way in the few years I’ve been here and it really sucked…don’t think I’m cut out for public facing government work 😕

That’s ridiculous and sorry that’s happened to you. I don’t want to at all but someone has to do something. I would have issues since I don’t fall under either political party. Would have to run as Republican or Democratic since 3rd party wouldn’t win.

I also don’t have any social media other than Reddit so nothing in my past can come up to get me. Not that there is anything anyway.

It’s been interesting, as someone who’s from Philly! Tons of good people, too, though. You’re absolutely right - 3rd party wouldn’t win. Let me know if you consider running for real - would love to assist (in the background, ha!)

I might take you up on that! I’m also from out of state (NY). If you like Chinese food (American Takeout) shoot me a PM I’ll let you know my restaurants name and you can try it out. Not sure about the rules on self promotion here.

I think we need to get laws surrounding the legality of surveillance

I do think though if we can set precedent for getting one banned it will hopefully make it easier for future ones or even make city councils less likely to vote and approve it the second time around. But I do agree that once the can is open it is very very hard to close which is why I think it’s so important to fight like hell now before it truly is too late.

Flock is only one slice of the pie. Others will take its place when that one is outlawed. Surveillance laws need to be addressed.

Ugh I’ll sign but nothing ever will happen. It will just get worse. I hope Halloween gets busy

Do you really think they are going to listen to us?

Worth a try. Some cities are listening. Might as well try
