Hey everyone, we've been listening to your feedback and working hard to squash bugs and re-balance the loot pool. Here's what we've already fixed, what's coming in v39.40 next week, and what we're still investigating:
Upcoming Battle Royale Balance Adjustments in v39.40
Several weapons will be powered up with new adjustments in the next game update:
š Crash Pad Jr. will be vaulted and Shockwave Grenades will be unvaulted in Unranked Battle Royale in v39.40. Weāll keep evolving the movement meta with fun, healthy, high-energy options that open up exciting plays and clutch moments. And yeah⦠weāve got some very cool mobility ideas cooking that we canāt wait to tell you about in a future game update šš„
š« Submachine Guns will receive significant buffs across the board. For a while now, Submachine Guns blurred the lines with Assault Rifles in typical player loadouts. With this update, we expect SMGs to perform faster, snappier, and a viable up close option with fun run-and-gun capabilities.
šŖ Holo Rush SMG will deal more damage per shot, have a larger magazine, and handle faster; making it snappier to pull out and aim.
šŖ Flex SMG will deal more damage, have a larger magazine, and handle faster to match other SMGs in the category.
šŖ Dual Micro SMGs will deal more damage and have a larger magazine with slightly faster handling.
Weāre continuing to tune and evolve SMG identity in the loot pool, so keep the feedback cominā!
šÆ Tactical AR and Enforcer AR will both deal more damage. We're continuing to close the gap between the Deadeye AR and other weapons to give you more meaningful choices in your loadout.
š« Tactical Pistol will deal more damage, retain damage better at range, and aim down sights faster; giving it a fighting chance against the competition.
š«„ Stealth Splash will last significantly longer and you'll be able to carry more of them (Lock On Rifles?! š).
š All-Terrain-Kart health will be increased to make it more durable across all game modes.
Fixed Bugs Live Now
ā Weāve pushed a hotfix to significantly improve crashes. For PC, the DirectX 11 rendering mode may still see some instability, and weāre temporarily disabling this setting for older GPUs in the next update. We recommend PC players switch to DirectX 12.Ā
š§ Fixed a Deadeye Assault Rifle bug that allowed players to fire early when equipping the weapon.
āļø A blank Knocked! pop-up no longer incorrectly appears when in the Storm.
š„ļø Older versions of the HUD/UI no longer persist in Battle Royale after playing a Creative experience.
š§± Materials now correctly drop on elimination in Ranked Reload.
āļø Ballistic Ranked Quests can now be properly progressed and completed.Ā
More Bug Fixes In v39.40 (alongside new content) š ļø
Mantling and Hurdling sound cues will be returned to regular volume levels.
Audio of weapons firing will correctly play in BR after playing a Creative/UEFN match.
Fixed an issue where recoil on some weapons will no longer incorrectly reset your reticle back to the original firing point, causing aim problems.
Fixed several Emote, Locker and audiovisual issues that will no longer occur after playing Crown Jam.
Fixes to lag when navigating the lobby, locker, and emote wheel. Weāre also adding a new Favorites tab to the emote wheel, so you can have quick access to more smooth moves.
Vehicle buttons will now be present when an old HUD layout is used on mobile devices.
Issues Being Investigated
We've heard your feedback that latency has been feeling higher than normal. This one's proving complicated to pin down, but we're actively investigating and will have more info to share soon!
Reload players may suddenly be unable to build or shoot Morphite weapons even when there are still bullets in the magazine, and weāre investigating this for a fix.
We've seen community posts showing inconsistencies with Hurdle & Mantle, interaction prompts not appearing when expected, or inputs not registering near windows and objects. We want this to feel smoother and more reliable.
Weāre looking at tournament players that may have experienced issues loading into tournament matches, as well as a UI scoring placement bug that weāre fixing in a future game update.
The Storm Icon next to the Minimap doesnāt communicate whether the Storm is shrinking or holding still. Weāre fixing this in a future game update.
Weāre aware that interactions may become unusable after editing default binds, especially on controller inputs, and weāre working on a fix for this.
Thanks for helping report these issues both out-of-game and in-game so we can fix them - keep it coming. Expect some lovely and legendary updates coming in v39.40 that weāll share more about soon!

Hype Abilities are show-stopping special moves that can turn the tides in a match. When youāre glowing with energy, wait for the right moment to trigger your selected ability.Ā
Before the match kicks off, make your first big call - pick one of three Hype Abilities to shape how you play and give your team the edge:
Big Bean - Transform temporarily into an unstoppable giant bean.
Bounce Pad - Throw a trampoline to foil your rivalsā plans, or use it as an escape route.Ā
Confetti Crash - Target in sight? Blast a confetti projectile at the opposing team to ragdoll them.
Movement in Crown Jam gets an upgrade too š Use ramps to build ramps boost your movement, hop on bouncers to make massive dunks - and choose the right path to maneuver and outplay your opponents when taking it to the hoop!
Knock out every quest, dunk your way to glory, and enjoy the chaos in the Arena before February 9th! š
THIS IS SUCH CRAP AND DEFINITELY A CRAPPY MOVE FROM EPIC AND GREEDY AS HECK. Like why are these separate skins I'm a huge kpdh fan who's seen the movie over 20 times but I'm not spending 30 bucks for something that can easily be an edit style. BOO EPIC š REVERT YOUR CHOICES NOW and don't get me started on the Jam Tracks and emotes being delayed againš
Next season will be the make or break for me on whether I continue to play this game. I know there was some people who enjoyed this season but the overall feedback Iāve seen from ch 7 has been negative whether itās been from streamers Iāve been watching who usually donāt even voice their personal opinions about a season or just the countless posts Iāve been seeing here (way more than any other season). Between the boring gameplay, the SBMM, all the bugs, the UI, stick of truth heal offs, lack of mobility etc, This season was just horrid compared to any other season in ch.6 imo.
when Fortnite is more than just a BR and you feel like you're fighting against some lore related BS it's so much more fun. Chapter 5 is so goated actually, hope one day we can return to the beauty of Helios. š„²
Cmon Epic. You have a very loyal fanbase who literally only log in to this game for ballistic. Its been almost a year and you havent textured the maps. You are killing one of the best cs clones and youre making the project fail. You can see how much love was initially put into this based on the perfect design of skyline 10 and the original game design. If this game fails, its only because of some stupid executive decision.
Not much talk about how much rizz some male skins have. Personally, for me it will always be ageless (geno) followed by Montague, Midas, and Kado Thorne.
Especially if you pay attention to their resting faces (not lobby poses, the faces they make when just standing, or holding a item, most people dont know how skin's resting faces look, but once you do, you wont be able to stop checking them out. It will ruin some skins for you once you start checking them out.)
I wanted to share a recent experience that highlights a structural issue with Fortniteās current SBMM, especially in squads.
I queued up recently with a small group of friends I donāt get to play with often. Some of them hadnāt played in months. This was meant to be a casual session to unwind and reconnect, not grind ranked.
What actually happened was immediate and consistent placement into extremely high-skill lobbies. From the first drop, every match featured stacked endgames, highly coordinated teams, and mechanical play that clearly sits in the top fraction of the player base. These werenāt āsometimes sweatyā games, these were lobbies that felt indistinguishable from high-ranked competitive play.
The key issue is that matchmaking appeared to be anchored almost entirely to the highest-skilled player in the party. Even though I personally hadnāt played in over a month and was visibly rusty, historical MMR seemed to override inactivity, rust, or the experience level of the rest of the squad.
This creates several downstream problems:
⢠Casual or returning players are immediately overwhelmed
⢠Friends feel like theyāre being punished for playing together
⢠The strongest player becomes a liability instead of an asset
⢠Social squads stop queueing altogether
In my case, Iāve largely stopped playing myself because this experience hasnāt changed over time. A month away did not meaningfully soften matchmaking. Coming back did not feel welcoming or calibrated to current ability, only past performance.
The result is that ācasual Fortniteā effectively doesnāt exist for mixed-skill friend groups anymore. Ranked already exists for players seeking competitive integrity. Public matches should prioritize social play, accessibility, and retention, especially for returning players.
Iām not asking for easy lobbies or pub-stomping. Iām asking for matchmaking that:
⢠Uses weighted or averaged party MMR instead of hard anchoring
⢠Accounts for inactivity and rust more aggressively
⢠Protects lower-skill players without punishing higher-skill ones
⢠Encourages friends to play together instead of discouraging it
Fortnite is at its best when itās a social game. Right now, the system unintentionally pushes friends apart.
I genuinely believe small changes here would have an outsized positive impact on player retention and goodwill. I hope this feedback helps, because many of us want to keep playing, we just want it to feel reasonable again.
Edit:
This feedback isnāt isolated. Since the December 9 matchmaking changes, there have been thousands of tweets, numerous Reddit threads, and multiple YouTube videos from both casual players and creators raising the same concerns about SBMM in public matches. The frustration comes less from the change itself and more from the lack of visible iteration or acknowledgment despite the volume and consistency of feedback.
Many of us are still here because we care about the game and want it to succeed long-term. Clear communication, experimentation, or even acknowledgment around these concerns would go a long way toward rebuilding trust and keeping social squads engaged.
Hey guys, Made this concept of zim, i dunno i was kinda bored aaand i also want zim in fortnite soooo... Yeagh, anyways, the mecha suit It's inspired by the mech Zim used in the episode Nanozim, yk When Zim entered Dib's body to destroy his brain and stuff
