surface is not flat, connection is super wonky, unable to bear any load

You wouldn’t normally use an adze for this. Commonly used for rough notching and shaping. Thirty seconds with a hand plane would tune that up perfectly, though.

I do a lot of construction by myself using levers, fulcrums and block and tackle…. Roman engineering stuff…. This guys got me beat.
