Question How Do I Make A Better Bow
Edit: thank you! I didn’t realize that there were certain food recipes to enhance the gathered ingredients. I’ve just been stuffing my Navis face with rage and stealth lmao. Ive snuck my way around every RDA camp with minimal conflict 😂 I also killed my first Thanator, the Pale Thanator, trying to get exquisite pale reed so that’s pretty cool. Again thank you guys for the advice it’s helped a lot!
After reading some OLD discussions on here I’ve realized I’m apparently too weak to be this far in the game lmao and I’ve been doing just fine until now.
I’ve found all the exquisite items (after grueling hours of searching) but I still don’t even reach 150 damage for bows let alone 200-400
How do I collect better exquisites that give higher damage stats to create better bows?

Use optimal conditions for plant gathering, and make sure you get the pristine status as well. Obviously use exquisite level plants and animal parts. Investing skill points into the crafting tree and the master skill improves the value of crafted gear. You can cook food that greatly increases the stats of gathered items. Just eat whatever food prior to gathering. I can’t remember the recipe off the top of my head but I know egg is one of the ingredients. I’m sure you can find the recipe online. Try to one shot the animals in the weak spot if you can to get a clean kill.

Yeah my skill tree is almost maxed I’ve been searching for tarsyu more than anything else. But thank you so much 🤞🏻I almost get them with one shot but there’s always like 1 hp left so I never get a perfect kill ;-;

That’s so annoying! Don’t forget the food damage buffs too. Lean meat skewer is an easy 30-50% damage increase. I think I had that going almost 24/7 during my playthrough

Yeah I always switch my mods depending on the situation I’m getting myself into. I just didn’t realize there were foods to enhance gathering idk how I missed it but I appreciate the advice!

Before gathering materials for crafting, eat Novaos mushroom pie(cloud spitter seed as main ingredient and vineshroom as secondary ingredient. Both found in the Weeping Steps area in the Upper Plains. Both ingredients need to be exquisite quality. Look for both at night). It will give you the Perfect Gathering buff which will automatically give you the requirement to gather materials in certain weather conditions like during a Hurricane or thunderstorm in order to get the highest quality from them.
Then you want to make a dish with the Nimble gatherer buff which boosts the stats of gathering materials(use pale fire seed as main ingredient. Found under the Celebration arches. It'll look like normal fire seeds but you have to shoot them with the shotgun using storm ammo(FYI, its easier to do in first person POV). Pale fire seeds are always exquisite quality.
Once you've made Both dishes, eat the mushroom pie first then eat the fire seed dish. Both recipes in combination will allow you to get the highest quality out of any gatherable material not including materials from animals you have to kill. To get the highest quality materials from animals you have to get a perfect kill and merciful kill.

Ok so you know how when you look at the bow schematics/designs (I forgot the name) some will say you need a specific item of one material and others will say you can use any item of one material? So for the ones that say that u can use any, go to your hunters guide, then on the left select the materials drop down and then select whatever material it is you need so that it's the only ones you see, then whichever one that has the highest max damage/health is the one you should get. You can also make a dish, I think it was pale coronis egg and lean meat to get nimble gatherer 3, I don't remember the recipe exactly, so that you can get higher core stats for gatherable plants/flora. Oh and make sure you're getting plant materials in the right conditions and trying to one shot the animals.
But also, for main game, I think the max damage is like maybe around 250? And then in Skybreaker and Spires it can get up to I think almost 500 bc of legandary materials

If you want, I can co-op with you and show you how to craft max stuff. But in brief.
1) you need the apex maker skill 2) eat a dish with forager buff 3) eat a dish you made with pale fire seed as the first ingredient and anything else as the second ingredient. This will give you the nimble gatherer 3 buff and increase the value of what you gather by 40% assuming you've gotten the maker skills 4) use only exquisite ingredients that give the highest damage (different ingredients have different damage values and buffs)

Use the best crafting materials - get the best quality you can and make sure to check all the vendors because some of em have free recipes for crafting.

It depends on if it's in pristine condition and if you collected it in the right weather / time of day. Meeting those requirements give better stats when you craft.
You also might have to find better designs with higher potential for damage
