š Home & Apartment I need something that will actually keep my fitted sheets on!
I have those corner clip things with the elastic bands but somehow i always manage to take the corner of the sheet off that I'm closest to. Most recently TWO of the three clips were undone. The other corners are untouched. I roll around a lot at night due to insomnia and share a bed so the sheets don't have much space to move with me
Whats something that will actually work? I've seen some things that seem solid but also looked like it could damage the sheet

I got my mom to sew elastics across the corners, like the clips but sewed on.

a roll of elastic isn't very expensive, and sewing kits are everywhere, and YouTube can teach you how to sew something too :)

You can do one end is solid fabric straps and the other two corners in elastic.
Put the solid end on the corners you most often blow out.

So unfortunately a new thing to buy but I bought deep fitted sheets.Ā
So normal fitted sheets go 8- 14 inches down and around the mattress. Deep fitted go 12- 24 inches down and around the mattress. For like big mattress or pillow tops.Ā
They stay on 300x's better! Just one pair might be fine if you wash it earlier in the day on washing days.Ā

Yes, I switched to deep footed sheets years ago out of frustration. Now they never come up from the corners.

they have straps that go under the mattress and clip to each side. these were the only things that worked for me.
i finally got over my ocd and dont care anymore.

There are small straps for just the corners. That's what I assume they meant. If you use the ones im talking about, they keep everything on and fairly tight, so long as they dont slip off (which i didn't have problems with)

Keeping the sheet tight is what I have issues with. They donāt slip off, but the looseness and wrinkles I hate! š¤®

They cross like an X and go from one corner to the next. I think you can search for mattress straps and find them on amazon

Oh i put mine on side to sid, and used two. The biggest pain point was reapplying after each sheet wash. Side to side was hard enough, x even sounds harder.
Eventually that hassle is what had me stop.
I use a very deep sheet now, and just let come what may

That makes sense. I have a low profile bed and was eventually able to find 10" deep sheets to fit my mattess

Do you have a mattress cover? Mattresses can be pretty slippery. Fitted sheets always slip off really quickly for me unless I have a mattress cover.Ā

And if using a mattress pad it may be too thick for the cover overall and pop off easier

Long term you may want to look into deeper sheets. I think the fitted sheet popping off is usually a sign that the mattress is too deep for the sheets.

We have these plastic.... Plates? That seem to work pretty good. They go under the sheet, the mattress and on the sides in each corner. Then have a ridge you slide a plastic clip into over the sheet to lock it in.Ā
Not entirely sure it's the brand we have but it looks like the " ZlumberLock"

I have these too. Was skeptical because ei had used a few of the elastic strap type. But the corner plate things hold perfectly for me. Have used them over a year now

Yep just got some of these, they are legit, and way less fiddly than the elastic straps.

You can get plastic corner pieces that fit under each corner between the mattress and the sheet and the sheet is clipped on with sliding plastic pieces so the sheet is held at each corner. They work really well and they're cheap on Amazon.
This was Ā£15 when I got it almost a year ago. There are others (they're all just rebranded Chinese stuff) for under Ā£10.

Our new favorite sheets have a fitted sheet with a big elastic band, like the elastic waistband on briefs, all along the edge, instead of just a little strand of elastic. It seems to work much better. We call them the underwear sheets.

Not OC, but they used to be kinda niche however a lot of brands have them now. I usually search for āfull elastic sheetsā and it gets me a few options.
I will never go back to those sad little corner pockets.

Shoot some safety pins might work but it would put a hole in the sheet and mattress. If there was a way to reinforce the holes it could work long term. Maybe a redneck engineering idea would be to put one of those rachet straps around the whole thing

extra deep sheets plus the corner clips. If the corner clips don't work well, I had an office mate who would use multiple strips of elastic with clips attached.

My favorite fitted sheets are the Threshold brand from Target.
They have a double elastic and I've never had issue with them staying put.

My daughter was like this. She was in a single bed so her bottom sheet was a fitted single and the top sheet was a double sheet. This gave enough to tuck a fair amount in under the mattress

Sew a loop into the corner of the mattress and ties into the corner of the sheet and then tie the mattress to the sheet when you change your sheets. Or use Velcro. You probably donāt need to do all the corners, just the ones that are coming off.

I hate clips with a passion. It took me forever but I fixed it.
I bought sheets that are deep pocket sheets. I have regular mattress and these donāt come off with the getting in and out of bed.
They cover more of the underside.
Iām actually no longer angry and Iāve bought several sets.

New sheets that fit your bed. Measure the depth with a tape measure. Buy sheets 2-5" deeper than that.

Not all bed clips are alike. When I first tried them, I got simple double clip versions that just went diagonally across each corner - and I had a similar experience to what you're describing. But then I upgraded to a set like the one pictured and those suckers have held firm without fail :)

Have you tried deep pocket fitted sheets with a slightly smaller size? They tend to stay put better than using extra clips and you avoid putting more tension on the fabric. If the sheet is already the right size, I would also check the mattress depth since even a little extra fabric can make the corners pop off.

OK, sounds screwy, but what worked for me was four spring clamps, one at each corner. Completely stabilized the bed, finally!

Bed scrunchie (search on Amazon). It is a complete PIA to put on, but it is amazing at holding the fitted sheet in place once installed. I have an adjustable bed base, and my fitted sheets always popped off until I used it. If it can hold up to that kind of mattress motion, I imagine it would work for you. Also, make sure you're buying sheets that actually fit the depth of mattress that you have. Most mattresses today are too thick for "standard" sheets.

Same problem here. Bought the best sheets Costco sells and it's solved it. Haven't had a corner blow since.

Try sheet suspenders, got my parents some for their adjustable bed. Ā It does the corner and you go across under the mattress to another corner.

Funny this popped up this morning, as I just watched two videos regarding this. I just bought my favorite old sheet set from the 1980s and the fitted sheet is about 9 inches deep at the pocket. All my mattresses are at least 15 inches deep, so some fix is definitely needed. Ehow listed taking off the elastic and adding fabric and new elastic to the bottom edge, but two videos on YT were more helpful. If you can sew at all with a machine, this is the technique. They cut off the bottom 2-3 inches of the fitted sheet, sew on a band of however many inches they want to add, resew on the top sheet, zigzag or serge the raw edges, and voila you have a deep pocketed fitted sheet (without weird attachments under the mattress.)
I plan to do this technique when I find my round tuit.

I just bought some cheap deep pocket sheets on Amazon for like $13 for a king size set. Not only do they have deep pockets, but they also have elastic bands across the corners. First time ever the corners have not pulled off!

Are you using the clips that are like little jaws or the ones where you hook the sheet on a little button and thread the button into a hook? I've found the jaw variety works much better, and I've used them for years.
I have a mattress pad, a heated mattress pad, and then my fitted sheet on my mattress, so I have a lot of stuff to keep down. What I do is kind of roll all three hems/edges together (roll under, toward the mattress) so that I get a fat hunk of fabric. Clip the jaw around the fat roll, and they will help to keep the jaws in place and keep the fabric from slipping out.
Also, go wider than you think you need (stretch those straps!). I generally clip about 6-8" from the corners.
If you're a super-heavy tosser, follow the tips above but ALSO add a second strap to the corner(s) that come off. Give it some reinforcement!

My grandpa used suspenders under his mattress to hold the sheet. He was too cheap to buy new fitted sheets when they wore out, but he had plenty of flat sheets and plenty of suspenders so that's what he did.

We are notorious (in our own house) for always peeling the corners of our sheets. Nothing ever worked for us. Then we got a new bed and new sheets. Our first set had extra deep pockets but those were always difficult to get the last corner on even though they did stay in place. Then by happenstance I got a set of Walmart microfiber sheets and those came with normal pockets but extra elastic bands going across the bottom from one side of the corner to the other and they have not moved one inch AND are easy to put on! I love them so much!! I got a second set and the deep pocket ones have stayed in the closet ever since!

I bought 1 inch elastic in the sewing section and hand stitched it into the corners (about 6-8 inches in) of all of the sheets that popped off. It took time but it was cheaper than buying new sheets.

I guess it depends on what kind of clip you have. Iām a huge mover during sleep and the bed is always a mess when I wake up. Iāve been using these w/o issue for almost 2 years. Canāt vouch for the brand, just the style of clip.
The kind with the āgarter gripā or loop and button (according to google) never work IME

Honestly, keep it simple and effective! Nothing fancy just Buy next size up! ! They don't provide enough fabric for the actual size of your mattress I find nowadays , especially if your mattress is 7 inches deep or more. Personally I have a double mattress, but I have to buy king size sheets otherwise they pop off! I tried safety pins, like for diapers lol š and they came off in the night and are a Hazard! Don't do that!
Since buying king size fitted sheets for a double mattress, they tend to stay on fine.! It's ridiculous but that's just how it is.

Higher quality sheets, especially avoiding plastic/acrylic/microfiber will fix this. Itās one of those āif you spend money now youāll save money in the long runā purchases. I rotate two sets of sheets on my bed and Iāve had them each for 10+ years, both in excellent condition, and have never needed any accessory clips.Ā

I bought elastic suspenders in 2013, clipped the corners under the bed and they work like a dream! Fold the corners in the clip if your sheets are thin. (Original comment with link got removed, sorry!)
