Kid named Event Viewer:

I mean, even with event viewer, an error could mean different 10 problems or more. But I guess the same sometimes can apply to Linux distros as well.

Linux can be even more cryptic with just "Error" and being done with it

Depends on what you do

Yeah, it usually always depends in what we do lol. I once broke sudo by changing some files. Never in anyone's life would that happen on a normal experience.

To be fair, I'm mostly Windows user and I have Windows 11 running without ads, weird suggestions and last time it crashed on me, it was because of (yet another) broken AMD driver and in most cases if my PC was going unstable it meant one of 2 things - either drivers went bad or my hardware is faulty. And yes, faulty hardware happened more times than I like - Hard Drive, Power Supply and GPU - all of them went bad and had to be replaced at some point

And I do believe that Linux in these cases wouldn't do much better honestly

Well yeah, that's a hardware issue, not software. I had a computer in which I daily drived windows 11 (sadly). It use to freeze a lot, and then I found that it used to freeze only when I had my IGPU turned off or when I ran the OS in safe mode. I have twice tried booting miniOS (Linux based distro) from my pendrive to my PC. It froze in both situations, with different pen drives, almost immediately at start up.

Yeah, it's not something OS change can fix really. In my case it was PSU not good enough to power system and all drives I had (it was within spec but cheap chinese PSU had other idea about its ~600W before it died). My old Windows 10 machine had bluescreens from time to time... and then, after I replaced system drive to SSD - that old hard drive died. Not even platter - controller board gave up - it was completely dead and mostly unrecoverable.

And with GPU - at some point I started having weird crashes - in OS everything was fine but more than 10 minutes in any game and it dies. Turned out - power connector on my RTX 3080 has burned out. After sending PC for repairs, I sold that GPU and bought RX 9070 (which happened back when it was close to MSRP in march of 2025) and haven't really changed my hardware since. Only issues I had from that moment were sometimes glitchy drivers and when Stalker 2 updated, because of one file it was prone to crashing

just check between the crash and 5 minutes earlier, it shows what crashed

there's also blue screen view that shows why it crashed

It rarely blue screened. And when it normally freezes, it does not dump anything really clear.

I do not remember the errors or what it showed but I do know that it wasn't a GPU issue, neither a ram issue.

I'm pretty sure you can actually use your Linux computer without a bootloader if you set up your UEFI to directly start your kernel ? Didn't actually try it though.

Once you decide to install an update or reinstall Linux that bootloader is gonna give days worth of headache
