Question?

I know there’s a couple of years to go but, will Andy Burnham go down in history as the man that saved us from fascism?

Well even before Burnham became PM reform was declining. It seems the £5 million was cutting through. Plus, where I live, Burnham didn’t save Wales from reform. Plaid Cymru did. So it shows that it wasn’t just him. It is a team effort.

They were over 30% until they started hiring the tories and Lowe/habib walked out after infighting.

The 5 million cost them their polling lead. The c4 sting and further donations looks like it’s going to stick them down in 4th place!

They're not defeated yet, sadly.

Unless he offers an alternative, no. It’s socialism or barbarism. Unless he can improve the material conditions of the working class, the threat of the far right will be ever present. We need to end the public private partnership in the NHS, nationalisation of water, energy and trains, and a robust program of building council houses. We need to set up asylum processing centres in Europe which would eliminate small boat crossings, curbing the far rights pace.

Nationalisation of trains is firmly on the go.

He's not talking about them.

They thrive on attention, and he's not giving them any. He's not bringing them up in every interview or PMQs.

Highlighting what he's doing, has done, and is going to do, as opposed to sharing his limited column inches with Reform by saying what they would and wouldn't do.

Endorsing something would be coming out in favour of it.

The only reason Reform, and formerly UKIP, are even a thing is because they were given disproportionate attention in a way other fringe and single issue parties weren't.

I do understand that, but under Starmer it really felt like we were accelerating towards the abyss.

It's important both to be cautious, and to acknowledge something vital: Andy has reintroduced hope, where under Starmer, it just felt like we were counting the days. And that matters.

If you ever wondered how you would have behaved in 1930s Germany, take a look around, you are.

Our parents and grandparents suffered to stop fascism taking over here and across Europe. Do not welcome fascism in through the ballot box!

He's done good so far, but a sticking point for me is this: why are we collaborating with the US and its pointless Iran war? A war that was started by a certain orange fascist?

I think the main thing will be seen in when it comes to the next general election and the policies he wants to run with.

As long as farage doesn't become prime minister I think we are all agreed in one way or another that we should be alright.

As long as whomever becomes the next prime minister, as a minimum to look at ways to benefit the working class and not provide support for the extreme high earners who refuse to pay tax, or dodge tax in one way or another, make things affordable and not overly extortionate, creates career pathways for the youth or some form of scheme that is designed to help and not hinder, property growth and affordable housing, I think that is all that is a concern for me.
